I guess he’s learned his lesson about trying to please both sides, when one side no longer has any relationship with facts or reason.

So the guy in charge of tearing babies from their mother’s arms and putting them in cages is resigning to spend more time with his family… how nice for him.

He wants to recapture his sanity and spend more time with it.

I think acting appointments for a Senate-confirmed positions can only occupy their roles for six months. So, maybe his time was just up.

After working with Trump, that may take a lot of time, medication, and intense therapy.

To be honest, I have to wonder if McAleenan knew he was resigning before Trump tweeted it

“He also helmed the department as it failed to adequately provide humane care for migrant children.”

So they caged babies, made 'em drink from toilets, deported their parents, lost the records to reunite 'em, and let a bunch die along the way…

It’s not like they had emails.

Or gave speeches to bankers.

In pantsuits.

Earlier this week, McAleenan was forced to leave the stage during a speech at Georgetown Law School when protestors bearing signs reading “stand with immigrants” chanted until he walked off.

Thank you Georgetown Law (my mother’s law school alma mater). This is important. ALL these scumbags from the current regime need to be hounded mercilessly. They should never be allowed to rejoin civil society again.

Proud of those protestors.

And, another one bites the dust. tRump will be out in front of the WH to see who he can corral into taking this position, and they don’t have to know anything.

Every job in this administration is basically a temp job, with benefits (if you think of federal, state, local and congressional subpoenas and the prospect of prison time to be a benefit).

At first, I didn’t think that the protests had much to do with it – but the more I think about it, the more I suspect that they were a wake up call for someone who saw himself as a bureaucrat and placeholder.

Its bad enough to be in a position to say “I was just following orders”. McAleenen was now the guy giving the orders, and he realized that no decent person would be giving him the benefit of the doubt anymore.

At this point, the administration’s arc is falling, and quickly. I’ll be surprised if they can get anyone who knows anything into their government.

How long before Trump is all alone in the White House?
