Now that the Senate doesn’t have to burn political capital on Gaetz, maybe that increases the odds of shooting down RFK Jr’s nomination. That’s the one I really don’t want to see make it through. I hate to say it, but even elevating Dr. Oz to replace him as head of HHS would be better.

I’m guessing Thune and Mitch told Trump and Gaetz they didn’t have the votes to confirm Gaetz in the Senate so it’d be best to have Gaetz withdraw his name or else risk an embarrassing confirmation hearing and a failed vote.
