Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) stood out in CNN’s “Equality Town Hall” Thursday night with a line on marriage equality.
“Assuming you can find one.”
You enjoyed reporting that line, didn’t you, Mr. Shuham?
Thanks!
From the look of things, she would slap Current Occupant around on a debate stage with ease.
Forthright, fearless, funny, forty-six.
I can just see it now, tRUmp tries the standing behind her as he did with some success against HRC. I can just picture the comment, with a smile on her face, “I see, I’ve picked up a stalker” and leave it as that. I can then picture the camera swinging to a split screen on Trump’s face and the other on the audience. One face would be sour, beet red vs orange for a change and sputtering while the other is rolling on the floor in laughter.
Great answer. However, the question may have been a bit of batting practice given the equality lapel pin on the jacket of the questioner.
She would never say this, but I would: “Hey buddy, if you’re gonna stalk my behind you can kiss it while you’re back there!” It would be a great way to end my political career.
I also did enjoy that line.
Last night, I watched Warren, Buttigieg, Harris, Klobuchar, O’Rourke, and Castro speak and answer questions at the Equality Town Hall. Steyers was on too, but he didn’t interest me, so I went to bed.
I loved Warren’s energy, but I also think that she is too good at not directly answering serious questions.
I thought all the candidates were thoughtful and sincere. I thought Klobuchar and Buttigieg most actively listened to and most directly answered the audience members’ questions, even when their answer may not have been what the questioner wanted to hear.
I continue to be amazed that trumpie suppporters can find folks to sleep with. Really. The venom and hate that bubbles up in these folks can’t make for a good romp.
Active listening and giving direct, cogent responses are among Buttigieg’s most admirable skills and traits on the campaign trail. Something about him just screams earnestness to me. I like that.
It really was a great answer. Warren is a bit far left for me, but I have no doubt she would make a fine, pragmatic president.
"I did not think I had lived a good enough life to be rewarded by Newt Gingrich being the Republican nominee. It still is unlikely, but I have hopes. Let me say, for example, I intend to continue to be an advocate of public policy. I look forward to debating, to take one important example, the Defense of Marriage Act with Mr. Gingrich. I think he is an ideal opponent for us, when we talk about just who it is, is threatening the sanctity of marriage ." – Barney Frank, seeking to debate Newt Gingrich, the then GOP front runner re: the 1996 debate over the DOMA
Good Answer…
Exactly. I know he’s young, but he’s still my number one pick.
And Klobuchar, who I never really thought about one way or the other, really did her homework before last night’s town hall. I was very impressed.
If you watch the clip, either she’s a very good actor or she was coming up with this on the fly.
I was going to heart your post, but then got to the Klobuchar bit…
IIRC, he is the Executive Director of HRC. But they question was a good one, as was the answer.
My thought as well. You could almost see the wheels in her head turning, and then the self-satisfied twinkle in the eye when she told herself “Nailed that one!” I believe she’s just that quick-witted.
So true. But I’ll stick with my imagination as being to in your face would do exactly as you believe while being just a little nicer/easier on the schmuck would be much more effective. The additional nice thing would be he’d not understand why people were laughing.
I’m in the exact same boat as you. Each time I imagine a President Warren running up to the podium at every chance, I smile more.
But, when did she become charismatic? This isn’t something I actually care about other than that the Democrat can win the general. It seems like a lifetime ago that she released that awkward campaign launch video with the thing about getting a beer. She either was trying to conform to something she isn;'t and has since gotten comfortable reverting to herself, or, similarly impressive, she studied charisma on her spare time and gained expertise.
