True 'dat…
And that is why she will be our next President. She is wonderful in front of a crowd and she is able to explain that her belief in equality is part and parcel with her faith and why. Such a quick wit.
I love the line. Not only was it a great sentiment but, she had good comedic timing with the final zinger
Warren and Buttigieg continue to impress me. I loved his statement about how your religious freedom ends when it comes up against others basic rights. (Not exact quote).
Warren is very smart, she likely came up with that line on the fly, based in her beliefs about the topic. The rest of the answer was very strong, and, importantly, rooted in how she grew up, her faith, and the ideals of equality that America should stand for. That’s an answer that can reach a lot of people, and cut through the hatred pointed towards LGBT people…if she can do that with other topics then she can make inroads into the groups that don’t want to support Trump but do anyways because of the R. If enough people see her talk like that, it will make them doubt the idea that she’s a crazy socialist, because that answer was not some left wing screed.
And, imagine that wit against Trump during a debate, he will have no idea what happened and end up incoherent with rage. Stuff like this is why I think she should be the candidate.
“The right to religious freedom ends where religion is being used as an excuse to harm other people.”
Thanks!
I don’t know how to react to your comment…
ETA: I didn’t get home last night until Biden already spoke, so I can’t comment on his performance. I was impressed with all the other candidates.
The question is whether Trump will even agree to a debate. I’m sure his advisers will counsel against it. But Trump’s ego may compel him to anyway.
His advisors have probably counseled against him taking on the press while heading to his helicopter, but he just can’t help himself. “I can take her. She’s just a stupid girl” he’ll say, just before he goes onstage…
“Assuming you can find one.”
Attention Lindsey Graham!!
This is National Coming Out Day!!
Get a clue, Miss Thing.
Can I like this 10,000 times, PLEASE???
I enjoyed reading it!
Trump probably shouldn’t debate, he loses on the facts and usually comes across as an arrogant asshole (which is base likes but that turns off other people). Not debating won’t hurt him with his base, so the question is if it will hurt him more not to show up or to show up and lose. The Democrat would end up with two hours to answer questions, which would be fine unless the moderator decides to go after them…without Trump there it could hurt them if they say something stupid and don’t have the comparison with what Trump would say. I’m not convinced that not showing up would hurt Trump, except perhaps to make him seem cowardly to face the Democrat (especially if it’s a woman).
Trump, on the other hand, thinks he’s the smartest person around, and can handle anyone else, so he will show up for the first debate. If it’s against Warren, he’ll have his ass handed to him, on a silver platter…he’ll try to yell and scream but Warren has that teacher mode where she can cut through and point out all the bad things, I don’t think Trump can handle that. He’ll probably be stuck at that point, not showing up for the rest will look worse than not showing up at all.
You know, this isn’t really productive or appropriate…gay bashing is bad, no matter who the target is.
It’s wholly appropriate.
As an out gay man I reserve the right to call out any self-loathing gay men who work to harm the LGBTQ community.
If you don’t like it, ignore it.
That Liz Warren has a lot of nerve making light of the sanctity of the good old fashioned religious bigotry of those “Marriage Equality Opponents.”
What a “left coast elitist,” she just don’t understand the fine Christian mentality these people have does she?
And your proof that Graham is gay? Right, there isn’t any, beyond stereotyping his behavior, which is the same thing that gets people killed. And it just really looks bad to say things like this, there are plenty of reasons to criticize Graham without descending to gay bashing.
Before you reply, you should consider that I had an uncle who was gay…he grew up in Utah, got chased out of town, and eventually died of AIDS. I’m not going to ignore someone spouting anti-LGBT messages, whether they are themselves LGBT or some Republican redneck.
