Vice President Mike Pence castigated former Vice President Joe Biden Thursday with an attack that would make even the most casual observer of President Donald Trump’s hijinks roll their eyes.
“The American people have a right to know if the vice president of the United States, or his family, profited from his position,” said everyone with a rudimentary grasp of basic ethics.
“The American people have a right to know if the vice president of the United States, or his family, profited from his position,” Pence said. “When you hold the second highest office in the land it comes with unique responsibilities — not just to be above impropriety, but to be above the appearance of impropriety, and clearly in this case there are legitimate questions that ought to be asked.”
The fact that he didn’t immediately combust and disappear into a hole leading directly to hell is hard evidence that a kind, just and merciful god does not exist.
When you hold the second highest office in the land it comes with unique responsibilities — not just to be above impropriety, but to be above the appearance of impropriety, and clearly in this case there are legitimate questions that ought to be asked.
And Rep Cummings has the receipts (references in the thread).
1/ Let's talk about Mike Pence.
Shot. Manafort lied about mechanical problems to keep Trump grounded for an extra day to get to know Pence. He *really* wanted Pence as VP. Why? 🤔https://t.co/XYN1xZ7jRK
“The American people have a right to know if the vice president of the United States, or his family, profited from his position,” Pence told reporters after an event in Arizona. “When you hold the second highest office in the land it comes with unique responsibilities — not just to be above impropriety, but to be above the appearance of impropriety, and clearly in this case there are legitimate questions that ought to be asked.” He tweeted out an article containing his comments soon after.
I refuse to believe that Mike Pence is this dense. He’s throwing Donald Trump under the bus, in his usual passive-aggressive way. I mean, even Trump’s most diehard supporter knows Trump is profiting from the Presidency. This is getting interesting.
Trump threw Pence to the wolves last week and Pence is striking back. Who’d have thought there’d be no loyalty among criminal conspirators?
Pence wants the presidency so badly. He can taste it. He’s so close. In his mind, he is a modern-day King Cyrus. Oh the damage he’ll do if he’s only given the opportunity!
Yesterday’s WAPO article has Pence in too deep. The WH basically offered a lot of damning evidence against Pence that would’ve otherwise taken months to uncover. Trump has him set up to take the fall. He’ll say that his ‘perfect’ (now downgraded to ‘very good’) meeting with Zelensky was messed up by Pence’s ‘very bad’ meetings. He’ll replace Pence w/Ivanka. Pence will either stay tied to Trump and go down with the ship, or find a way through backchannels to cut some deal with Schiff and Pelosi. For now, he’s on Team Trump, but I don’t think either side trusts the other and the knives will be out starting this evening.
