I think we can dispense with the notion what a vast majority of Americans want means anything.
Not just guns, but SWAT rifles and military sidearms aggressively marketed for their capability to kill people. And no SWAT rifles or military sidearm is complete without a vest-full of 20,30,40,60,100 round magazines.
Here’s what should really be illegal: magazines greater than 5 rounds capacity. The penalty should be simple forfeiture of the illegal magazine and ammo, but it should be enforced daily, often and everywhere.

Anyway, I’d like to applaud the majority for thinking shootings are caused by guns. I agree, and stand ready to add, for any pollsters who are looking into this, that in my opinion sunburn is caused by the sun.
Make them illegal to have anywhere but a legal gun range. Folks that already own them have 1 month to get them from their home to registered and stored stored at the range.
You want to move it to another registered gun range, it is done by arrangement between the two ranges in a registered defined process.
After the one month grace period, simple possession of the banned magazine is a felony, mandatory 2 year probation. With that felony you would be banned from gun ownership for 3 more years after completing probation.
