So not elon musk.

My old girl insists on canned tuna in the morning. She won’t eat expensive “fish” flavored canned food, albacore or skipjack tuna, only standard canned tuna in water.

In case anyone of us has forgotten.

Thanks for the reminder.

Be careful. Too much tuna is not a good thing.
“The mercury levels are high enough that cats fed lots of tuna can develop mercury toxicity. Tuna is rich enough in calories that too much can lead to obesity rather quickly

I know. I have a case of uneaten “tuna-flavored” very expensive food that actually smells like dog shit.

She is now 14 1/2. She may well develop mercury poisoning but at least she is eating.

Tuna is also addictive to cats.
When my MIL decided to live off of cookies and ice creme at the end of her life, we said, “can’t wait till its us!”

15 years old you say?
That’s elderly in cat terms. If she were .y cat … then tuna in the morning. But not a lot. And remember lap time or some other mode of showing affection. We need it but so do our various critters

Of course, I also free feed her kibble, which she eats.

IOW, he doesn’t give a fuck.

Yoo was sounding relatively sane compared to what’s coming out of Trumpworld, that’s in itself is a bracing observation. In the end though, he sounds like he’s onboard after all. What would this be, the War on Antifa? Crazy.

Trump II?

“I think the more likely scenario is that this race is gonna be close until maybe Oct. 20th, 25th, and then I just think the bottom’s gonna start to drop out for Trump because he’s not acquiring new voters,” he said. “This is what happened to Carter in ’80, and I think there’s a lot of similarities here.”

Sucks to be Yoo.

People bitch about Elon Musk and his embrace of the right, but hey, look at his family and look at the media tone struggles 90 years ago.

In the US the Technocracy Movement was led by Howard Scott, and in Canada by, among others, Joshua Haldeman, Elon Musk’s grandfather (whose views shape Musk’s own projects in the 21st Century). In a Technocratic society, energy would be the default ‘currency’ (pun intended), with experts constantly monitoring how much energy individuals and organisations needed. In theory the amount of energy could be the same for all people, which made Technocracy appealing to some on the Left, like Chaplin. However, Technocracy’s status as an anti-capitalist or even ‘Left Wing’ movement was much contested, and today most scholars see it as a fascistic phenomenon.

John Yoo.
They never go away, no matter how badly they’ve embarrassed themselves. No matter how corrupt, malicious, and stupid they’ve shown themselves to be, they never go away.

  1. This is exactly the kind of guy that would jump at the chance to serve in the next trump administration. You’re not giving the guy enough due as the villain he was. I can’t believe this, but you’ve given him a bit of a whitewash.
  2. Calling him “controversial” is inaccurate. The right word is “disgraced.” His memos justifying torture were frauds. The OLC doesn’t withdraw memos, and he should have been disbarred. They ignored the treatment of (and prosecution) of german soldiers in WW2 as well as several others. Why? Because if you mentioned them, the memo’s conclusions were unsustainable.
  3. The only reason that the president (at the moment) does not have the power to lock people up indefinitely is because of a 5-4 vote. That majority is now gone and the president would be categorically immune. He could order the military to lock up the Senate and there would be no one to impeach him. The current majority would be glad to hand the president that power: Sam, Clarence, Roberts, Kegstand, and Amy all buy what Yoo was selling.

Yoo is a bad, bad guy: the kind of soft-jowled, polite-speaking lawyer who would gladly come back to government service (a) to get even with those who “failed to value his insights”; and (b) just for a sniff of the throne. I guarantee you, he is on the short list for Trump’s AG.

As to whether the campaign has contacted him: I’m not sure whether or not to believe him. I would put that denial under a microscope: no contact with the campaign “on these issues”? So what if any contact has he had with them on any issue? (etc.). This is not a guy who deserves the benefit of the doubt.
