My mate is just back from the convention. She relayed a story about a black waiter at hotel being an undecided voter. Said he was leaning to the dotard but if not him then RFK. After they talked him down he thanked the table for at least listening to him when not many in Chicago would. Not dumb just misinformed. A man can only “know” what their information sources feed them and somehow this cat was tuned into rightwing disinformation sources. Dangerous disinformation is what the Brazilian Supremes recognize as a real problem and so shut down Twitter there until Leon agrees to put content moderators back to work.

I’m guessing that it was really just because of his high profile. A lawyer who worked for the President of the United States as head of the office of legal counsel is a pretty big catch even if his views were, well, controversial to say the least.
In fact, since he was able to actually justify such crazy views at such a high level proves he has a sharp legal mind independent of his complete lack of morals.

I even had a liberal friend say that she understood why Walz would not want to be deployed. I explained to her it wasn’t that he avoided deployment. He retired months prior to his regiment being called up. She was surprised and thanked me for the clarification

It was a violation of an export sanction, no different than the seizures of Russian oligarch yachts overseas under US warrant. Maduro doesn’t get a pass on breaking US laws just because he’s a head of state in a foreign country.
It has diplomatic repercussions, but relations have been frosty between the US and Venezuela for years. This isn’t going to change anything.

We used to have rules against media monopolies and cross-media monopolies in the US. Reagan got rid of them, and Bushes both.

There is this large black beetle that has been roaming our house for about three weeks. Our cat was very good at dispatching bugs but I am more of a Ahimsa adherent (do no harm). And so instead of putting this guy outside I’ve let him roam. Besides he;d roast in our Arizona heat and so putting him outside would be lethal to him…
Y’see my cat… my long term bud of 21 years died recently and any critter other than mosquitoes or a rattle snake is welcome for a visit.
