Louisiana Offers Up More Women’s Bodies In Its Quest To Ban All Things Abortion-Related

Anti-abortion activists have been attacking mifepristone for decades. That mission has resulted in unnecessary restrictions on the abortion drug, renewed state legislative pushes to make it less accessible and a battery of lawsuits to get it yanked from the market altogether. Misoprostol, the drug often prescribed with mifepristone for abortions, has been relatively unscathed. Due…

I guess when listing the cause of death for pregnant women in LA the coroner can now put Gov. Jeff Landry’s practicing medicine without a license.

Reproductive medical slavery exists. The state of Louisiana holds it owns women’s bodies. That women are state owned… slaves.

Democrats are pro-life. Republicans are pro-death.

Don’t forget Moscow Mitch.

There’s a certain twisted consistency between pro-natalist and pro-death; after all, you can’t die if you haven’t been born. So if your goal is, for whatever reason, to maximize death and human suffering, then you want plenty of births – otherwise you’re gonna run out of material after a while.

I can easily imagine the day when there are few or no OB/GYN’s in the state of Louisiana. Just go to the Governor’s office to deliver?

It’s palatable, and been historically successful, for those activists and allied politicians to paint abortion as a singular, siloed-off procedure that exists only in Planned Parenthood clinics. … But it’s always been a lie.

Pre-Dobbs, I had many arguments with pro-deathers about the need for (equivalence of) abortion for miscarriage. They loved to claim miscarriage care different; it would be allowed, of course. Yeah, right.

So, I’ve been livid with hair-splitting IUI vs IVF in the fact-checker community. “Tim Walz concern is a lie, because his specific procedure would be totally fine & untouched.” Such bullshit!

Republicans make big noises about how a family should consist of a mother, father, and kids, but their anti-abortion actions make it clear that the mother part of that is optional. They are just fine with women dying as long as their political goal of ending abortion is met. It’s good to watch them squirming right now, but it will be better when abortion care is seen as the medical care it is instead of a pawn in the religious war against Americans.

I have good thoughts about Trump.

Well, they’re good for me.

Freaks like Landry are why states like Louisiana are dirt poor and have terrible health and welfare outcomes.

Strike that. It’s voters in Louisiana who are to blame.

Let them all die: that’s what the filth that is the pro death for women movement is about. The hatred of women is at the root of this. Trump waffles because he knows it’s a loser among voters; Vance who truly despises women wallows in his ugliness and self righteous filth. Landry is nothing but a bootlicker.

I don’t know it is just the mother that is “optional”. As JD Vance said, it is the mother’s kids. Under this scheme, that makes the kids “optional” too. (I am sure that all those Republican Daddies fleeing child support are all-in.)

Yes, it is twisted anti-family thinking. That is why they are always claiming they are pro-family and projecting anti-family unto Democrats.

Republicans always project.

I’m old enough to have seen every right wing “issue” get bandied about during this or that election period: Abortion, school prayer, guns, white supremacy, school busing, taxes, gays, the draft-- you name it.
I’ve never seen them all in one election cycle as we do in this one.

But it’s always been a lie. Abortion is a foundational part of health care, full stop.

I like plain talk, especially when it’s the plain truth.

(Democrats will make things right, if you vote for them)

Doctors need to create a protective union, so that they can stand up en masse to this bullshit. Such a union would require that if any one of their members is tried for violating this medieval fanaticism, they all go out on strike. Let fucking Louisiana deal with a weekend of Nola binge drinking with no doctors in any ER. That would shut these motherfuckers up in a goddamned hurry. See, what no one realizes, especially doctors, is that we need doctors. But we do not need state legislators, pinhead lawyers or religious fanatics, all of whom need a constant kick in the nuts. Let doctors walk for 24 hours, and tell the state legislature if they continue down this path, every single walkout will increase by 24 hours. We need to start fighting back, and instead of fearing the cost of walking out, fear the cost of not fighting back.

Resistance is what all of us must consider. While Trump will disappear sooner or later the persons, institutions, money that makes him their current figurehead will remain and will be active. We the people has to be more than an idea.
