Louisiana politicians are pro-disease.

Because we’re talking healthcare, it looks like UHC has been scamming the government gov’t

What does Sen. Foghorn Leghorn (R-LA) think? He looks for a camera like a heat seeking missile.

I would trust Dr. Kitty far more than those incompetents running the LA Dept of Health.

It was a long week with no MM.

Any measures legislatures and Governors take in the Old South that hasten early deaths and truncated mortality outlooks is to the benefit of the nation as a whole. We should applaud Louisiana’s vaccine stance. Frankly, if everyone south of the Mason-Dixon dropped dead before age 30 I’d be ecstatic.

Hello Everyone,
I like Jimmy and everything I’m reading about his decency and honesty is true and I’m happy to have witnessed his presidency in my childhood.

My one complaint is the boycott of the Moscow Games. I think American participation would not have hindered the response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

The answer to Abbott is “More than you pay in child support.”

So far, I’ve heard lots of mentions of how the Iran Hostage Affair torpedoed President Carter’s re-election prospects, but not one mention of how the Reagan campaign negotiated with the Ayatollah to make sure the American hostages would NOT be released under Jimmy Carter.

More Republican treason (see Nixon: Vietnam peace negotiations). And of course, the current Insurrectionist.

Welp, I guess political leadership (as it is) in LA wants to join the Third World.

The problem is Mardi Gras. Instead of just being a super spreader event for just STD’s, it becomes a super spreader event for preventable diseases and stupidity.

So, Louisiana Health Department leaders come up with a new “policy” that will increase the incidence of preventable disease and death in poor people. Being cowards, they won’t put their “policy” in writing. They should consider the possibility that if Trump/Musk get the feudal society they want, their offspring may well be poor people.

Ironically, Dr. Kitty is an allergist.

An oldster here who remembers Carter vividly. He was a decent man who, as a hard core conservative teen, I despised - loved Reagan though. As I wrote on Heather Cox-Richardson’s site this morning, that I was a young adolescent teen who had visions of bombing Russia and closing down family planning clinics . . . well, that tells you everything about the level of emotional and intellectual maturity of the conservative movement.

By the time I hit 21? I voted for Mondale in my first national election - he was a decent and dedicated man too. Mind you neither Mondale or Carter were perfect, but decent, and in the end, well hell, Carter did so much, including getting rid of Guinea Worm. Now that - along with little things like Middle East Peace, and shoring up nascent democracies by helping to observe elections, is an accomplishment. Selling steaks and Bibles? Any huckster can do that . . .

But I digress . . . What changed for me? I traveled. I read. I had a year of college. I experienced real life as others experience it.

As for Trump, Musk, and the Looney Tunes Show, as an historian be assured that, barring nuclear annihilation, he will be a blip on the screen. Remember the famine of 1314-21? Remember when that volcanic eruption in the early 6th century unleashed mice in East Africa and the Plague of Justinian? Remember when Caesar argued with Pompey about the rider in their agreement concerning the laws of 52 BCE? Hell, bet you don’t even recall the Dreyfus Affair and the assassination of Jean Jaurès, let alone Vercingetorix languishing in the Tullianum for years before Caesar had him executed.

Point being, this too shall pass. Lots of unnecessary suffering and no justice in the end . . . but Musk and Trump are as much just dust and footnotes as any others.

Be calm and carry on . . . . pour an effing tall one, but carry on . . . and look after each other.

“Louisiana forbids public health workers from promoting COVID, flu and mpox shots”

More stupid stuff will happen in the next four years. Unfortunately, this unwritten policy will cause deaths.

There’s a fix for that. People shouldn’t patronize businesses or events south of the Mason-Dixon.

Shunning is a lost art.
