Multiple local county school boards and superintendents have been pushing back against state-level Republican bans on school masks requirements as students prepare to return to the classrooms in the fall.
As well they should, but they are dealing with the anti-educated.
This is another salvo in the GOP war on public education.
I am willing to be these folks never before gave a millisecond of thought to oxygen consumption of the people who regularly wear masks as a part of their jobs (medical workers, etc.)
Going on in Duval county right now. The school Board decided on a mask ban despite DeSantis’s prohibition but with an “opt out” that parents can take. I’ve spoken to a few school folks and they say opt out is at about 4%. DeSantis can’t really do anything about the defiance at this point.
Mask mandate bans are insanity.
I have two teenagers returning to in-person instruction (and riding public transportation to school), and they will be wearing N95s the whole day. I can’t imagine living in a part of the country where they would be legally required to spend six or seven hours indoors with unvaccinated people.
It is dystopian, as if the GOP are COVID farmers intent on developing new, higher-yield strains of virus.
I wear them in surgery everyday. Never heard anything about them depriving oxygen. If I had I’d laugh it away.
Yes I came here to say, that I never heard any RWer in the last 40 years making a valid claim about our atmosphere until I saw that sign. Absolutely selective about when they invoke or hew to science and laws of nature. Frustrating and illuminating, they can understand and be guided by science except they are incapable of honesty.
Lords and ladies enjoy privileges and protections that are not extended to the hoi polloi.

Government (how cute) schools force students to do all sorts of things. There are dress codes and standards of behavior and the whole going to school thing in the first place (unless you decide to homeschool).
But this is especially ridiculous since private schools are also implementing mask mandates.
Remarkably, they’re all polymaths.
