A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things.

Why isn’t someone who flouts the law and repeatedly breaks it, banned from being in law enforcement?

“Livid Trump”

It is sometimes hard to reconcile that [baby-]man’s stunning ignorance with his obvious understanding of the legal peril he’s in.

Anyway, I, myself, am such an awful human being that I find myself enjoying his discomfort.

Because those are the people they want. Same reason LEO ranks are filled with 'roid-raging KKKers who shoot first and never think.

1000% certain that he will launch multiple sequential law suits to block investigation… and it makes no difference how baseless, how they may have no legal grounds …
He will do as his mentor Roy Cohn taught him & sue, sue, sue to obstruct & deflect & delay …
… it works for him …
Nobody has seen his financials … he hasn’t provided that DNA sample… & more

“Executive privilege will be defended,

Why does the ex-POTUS always speak in the subjunctive mood? Does he view himself as the hero of a Shakespearean tragedy?

One can easily see why the first shot (actually broadside) across his political bow (actually dead center) got his attention:

It’s a wonderful list of targets, and perhaps how he used his family as a shield. How does the song go? You can run but you can’t hide? Time to roll up these grifters.

Also, with all the news focusing on Afghanistan, some may have missed this:

It’s not just that the conservative judges in SCOTUS may be labeled activists, but they appear to be selectively activists, precedents be damned. Fascinating times, and I’m interested to see how the Biden Administration will respond in the immediate future and then going forward. Federal courts should not routinely get involved in foreign affair policy making unless there is a fundamental issue at stake. It’s almost as if SCOTUS recognizes that the Republican Party is both intellectually and functionally dead and that they need to step in to maintain progress on their views. Dangerous times.

Avoiding accountability. That’s what the passive voice is for.

Mr. Trump is a riddle. He often takes actions that are totally unnecessary and incredibly self-destructive, but at the same time he also seems to grasp when his survival is really at stake.

Yes. Sometimes I imagine that there’s Trump, the utterly broken, mentally underdeveloped person, and then there’s his personality disorder, like a separate entity, which is cunning, and educated.

Cy Vance has, so has the grand jury, and I’m assuming Leticia James has too.

Delta Airlines employees will be charged $200 dollars a month if they don’t get the COVID-19 vaccine because “the average hospital stay for COVID-19 has cost Delta $50,000 per person,”

Arrrrg!! Worse than slavery and the holocaust put together!

Last 24hour evacuation total - 13,400 (down from previous 19,000)
That brings the total to more than 95,700 people evacuated since Aug. 14 and over 101,300 since the end of July.
With a projected about 36 hours left in operation …gotta figure that there will be a strong final rush to the exit …
Have a hunch that the 95,700 may top out at around 115,000 - 120,000 … depending upon the amount of obstruction coming from the Taliban

I think it depends on the law enforcement body in question. You’d have trouble getting hired by the PA State Police with nothing more than a parking ticket on your record.

Ex-POTUS Is Having A Bad Day

Good. The way I see it, he owes me and everyone not in his cult about 1559 more bad days. Then, maybe, we’ll call it even.

Executive privilege exists for the executive. TFG isn’t the executive any longer (Praise be unto God, from whom all blessings flow1) and so TFG has no executive privilege to defend. I expect the cognizant Federal agencies to pass that material on to the Select Committee in short order2.

1 The deity’s location in autumn 2016 has been determined. The deity determined it was necessary to ease the suffering of the comfortable and wealthy, and cast a blight on the afflicted. (She’s always had this minor dyslexia problem.)
2 Pro tip to Qevin McQarthy and Moscow Mitch McQonnell: when your opponents offer you a seat on a panel investigating something you are complicit in, and that seat has veto power over the direction of the investigation, accept their terms. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Morans.
