Nope.
I wish the Constitution a speedy recovery.
I wish fervently that Rush Limbaugh gets every ounce of what he deserves. And as speedily as possible.
Strangest thing. My “Vote-By-Mail Ballot” was delivered today, it says return by March 3. It’s as if wishing for it made it happen.
John Kerry won the Iowa caucus and became the nominee. OTOH, BHO won Iowa. Go figure.
I’ll be going over to caucus, or actually to stand in line in the cold to get into the caucus site, in a little bit. I’m excited to caucus for Elizabeth Warren. But I just want to say, as an Iowa voter and in advance of any results, that Iowa absolutely shouldn’t be first and the caucus system is a terrible way to choose a nominee.
We shouldn’t be first because we are too damn white. And the caucus system is terrible because it disenfranchises people who don’t have reliable transportation, can’t find childcare, work 2nd shift, are socially anxious or uncomfortable in crowds, or don’t feel like they fit in in their neighborhoods. There’s no amount of romantic hooey about doing democracy in person that makes it ok for only the people who can be in a particular location for only two hours+ and all of that two hours+ to have a voice in picking the nominee.
Difficult problem.
If this had been different when Obama ran, he would have lost.
South Carolina was NOT down with him, considered him unelectable. Then he won Iowa and it all changed.
I would caucus for Dave, but I heard he wasn’t here.
Exactly. Cut the nation into quarters, hold one primary a month beginning in May and rotate the cycle so every state gets a shot at the first round every 16 years.
Let us know if there are any Repug goons causing any problems if you can.
I suspect this election year will be different from all others in every respect. And that includes tonight’s results.
Hopefully, it’s different because there is a massive Democratic turn out across all categories of voters.
This is really a silly exercise. By April no one will care what happened in Iowa. Sorry but there are a couple of good basketball games on today and tomorrow.
If you’re a Democrat I hope you don’t live in Iowa.
How about a single day, national primary? Am I asking too much that Iowa and New Hampshire get some help in picking our candidates?
Easy easy next you will be calling for some sort of an election.
I’ve been touting this for more than ten years.
No matter which route is taken, the technological world no longer requires this long drawn out affair with inconsequential States essentially making the decision for us.
I could accept the quarter nation alternative, as long as there’s no jiggery about rotating it so everyone eventually gets a chance to be first.
Actually I don’t and have been a democrat since 1967. Just to clarify I am not a democratic socialist. Ms. Ocasio, Michael Moore and Bernie could knock at my door and they would be welcome but I would tell them all to go home and back someone who can beat Trump.
It is not so bad. We get to meet every damned candidate. I personally have waited on 5 of them.
Slow night tonight but it will hopefully pick up as people finish caucusing.
Do you have nothing better to do?
There are plenty of fixes that could be applied to our electoral system but until they are implemented we all just have to do the best we can.
Nice day if it doesn’t rain, too.
