Lisa Page, the former FBI lawyer who was dragged into the Russia investigation over accusations of a bias against President Trump, is suing the FBI and the Justice Department for violating her privacy.
I believe the releasing of the text messages happened under Whitaker, the big dick toilet guy. So this law suit will be fun to watch. (now I need to go buy more snackage since the Barr article made me dip into my reserves)
Page is seeking at least $1,000 in damages for the alleged Privacy Act violations, asking that the amount be determined at trial, and coverage of her attorneysâ fees.
Is this a typo? I canât imagine that her bottom line in damages is a mere $1,000.
The government likes to avoid trials, creates precedent. Could easily see an offer of several hundred thousand just to squash it, maybe more. Something not crazy, but enough to make her decide to take it rather than chance getting nothing.
She has a point. If this is aired out in Court it will be humiliating for FBI and DOJ. Can you imagine Trumpâs orgasm speech being viewed under this new light? Theyâll fuss. Claim its âa diversionâ and frivolous. If the Judge isnât a McConnell stooge and keeps the thing on the up and up it will go down by Gandhiâs ( apocryphal ) rules.
âFirst they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.â and get the money.
Giving her nothing would set the Mother of all Precedents. It would upend the Privacy Act and open a Pandoraâs Box of official abuse. Donât see that. Maybe a lowball offer to avoid dragging Trumpâs tweets and fake orgasm vid into the hearing. If she sticks it out she should do well.
Sheâs not asking, she just put the minimum. Iâm saying theyâll offer, because trials are expensive, so if they think sheâs likely to win it, theyâll put something on the table thatâs less than the cost of taking it to trial, but substantive enough to make her seriously consider taking it.
For a D.C. lawyer, sheâs not going to accept a few thousand bucks in lieu of getting vengeance at a trial. But a few hundred thousand may be enough.
