Republicans hate this bill because it takes away their advantage of suppressing the vote. Republicans know they can’t win on their policies and have to resort to cheating in order to win. Passing this bill might have to force Republican to actually campaign on what they stand for and what they will do for their constituents to make their lives better for a change.

The right to vote is sacrosanct, and the Confederacy and their cohorts have been trying to keep that right from some people for more than 150 years. It’s time for a Voting Convenience Act, or a Voting Ease Act.

Republicans hate this bill because it’s fair, because it’s appropriate, and because it exposes them for the crooks and liars they’ve been for the last 50 years or so.
They find it both easier and more satisfying to deprive people of their right to vote (among other rights) than it is to offer policy ideas that actually help their constituents.

i definitely wonder about federal requirements on state run processes, but i’d at least like them to ram it through and to defend it zealously right up to the SCOTUS if necessary. get the republicans on record with all of this blatant disenfranchisement. make them stand up and defend it explicitly. hang it around their necks like a toilet seat and beat them over their heads with their positions from now until the end of time.

What are the consequences to Lee for such unacceptable speech? If I were Biden and Schumer, I’d call McConnell and Romney into the WH for a little meeting and tell them both there will be nothing, NOTHING, for Utah whatsoever, bases will be moved, and any discretionary federal money to Utah will be immediately cut off (for business and governmental reasons) if there is not an immediate, full-throated apology from Lee. And then I’d do it. Enough is enough!
