Wear a damn mask people. I’m sorry for this man’s family but this and so many other deaths are entirely unnecessary.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Thoughts and prayers.

He lived in maskless country. Men who wear masks there aren’t really men.

So no Regeneron treatment?

Guess he wasn’t in tight enough with Trump

So, special election?

May his death be a catalyst in his district for more to practice safety protocols.

Given Steve Scalise thought guns should be MORE available after almost dying from a crazy person with a gun… I have little faith in Republicans or their voters

This is what you get with the whole “herd immunity” ignorance. You get death. Lots of it. Until there’s an effective vaccine that’s widely taken.

Sorry, no thoughts and wishes here.

Especially in this district of La. They’ll pray and mourn, and that’ll be that.

Word on the street is, he regularly wore a mask. Not sure how he contracted it, but running a campaign probably wasn’t helpful. Just not sure.

In any case, at 41 years old, this guy isn’t in the right wing demographic for people that die from this. When I say right wing demographic, I’m referring to the nincompoops that insist only old people and people with pre-existing conditions are victims of this disease.

They’ll write this guy off as an exception and continue on their merry way, of course, or argue that it wasn’t that at all and some ANTIFA guy poisoned him or some stupid stunt.

But I wish this could be a turning point for even a few of those nincompoops. This didn’t have to happen. Really. It didn’t.

And clearly he hadn’t sworn in early enough to get the ‘golden cord’ treatment afforded so many in this administration.

Wouldn’t the seat be appointed by the governor, at least until the end of the current term? This is how we got loeffler.
The gov for LA is a dem.

And yet, Steve Scalise lives and breathes.

Everyone is responsible for their own behavior, but I blame Trump for actively discouraging – even disparaging – mask wearing. He made not wearing a mask a twisted badge of honor and an act of oppositional defiance for his idiot followers, including elected officials who should have known better but were afraid of his mean tweets and his base. Now one of them is dead, and two children no longer have their father. If Trump had gone the other way with this, the Trumpholes would have been proudly wearing their MAGA masks back in March.

As I wrote in another thread, here’s some perspective on how much Trump has willfully sabotaged the U.S. response to COVID. The 1918 influenza pandemic killed 50 million people worldwide, including 675,000 Americans, or 1.35% of the global death toll. So far COVID has killed 1.8 million people worldwide, including 345,000 Americans, or 19.2% of the global death toll. It’s astounding, tragic, and totally unnecessary.

In reporting his death this morning NPR stated his public position on states and municipalities imposing mitigation measures was they should be prohibited from doing so.

Karma.

My condolences to his young family. He went from positive diagnosis to death in a matter of days like he was hit by a Buick. Maybe the speed of the disease took his doctors by surprise. Who knows. He might have survived if he had gotten the treatment Rudy and The Damn Fool received.

Loeffler was appointed to the Senate. That is within the rules.

For the House, there are no gubernatorial appointments, only elections.

Yes, a Representative can only be replaced by an election, no appointments.
