The facts at the time showed that the virus wasn’t contained. Nor was it “airtight” as he said. Kudlow isn’t being ridiculed in hindsight. We knew at the time that he was lying through his teeth! This article must be updated.
There’s an em dash in there. The most generous interpretation is that Kudlow said, “At the time I made that statement, the facts were - [that the virus was] - contained.” Even with that. the best that can be said is that Kudlow is/was either an ignorant fool or a damned liar. My money is on the latter.

Kudlow explains the Hurricane is contained because no one has died yet. And it can’t be compared to Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina because those two were no worse than the common hurricane.
