Kinzinger Implores Senate: Convicting Trump Is ‘Necessary To Save America’ | Talking Points Memo

And Meier has voted for impeachment and to bounce Greene from committees. There is something to be said for Grand Rapids.

The DeVos family has a lot of clout (which is why Amash was toast), but people say that it’s getting bluer. Has a ways to go though.

That there are 37 opposed to conviction per WaPo tally is disturbing. 37 closed minded Rethugs, haven’t seen or heard evidence and yet somehow they won’t convict. They can all be concerned about losing their crazy base but what about the soul and decency of this country. Guess that’s not important.

You be sure not to stand behind him.

They’re trying to make air tight cases and then they’ll have the uphill task of finding jurors who haven’t heard of the loser’s criminality and haven’t formed an opinion about it.

Be careful what you wish for, that’s what I did PNW, SE AZ. Having lived in NW for years and knowing I needed sun, but not that much sun. Maybe I could have moved to northern AZ, but it was the desert that was calling me. Only made it for 3+ years before on the move again.

Yep I’m thinking of Prescott or Flagstaff.

Members of congress actually listening to the vox populi which says in the majority “convict” him? What a concept.

Cold in winter. Got to know Flag a little and liked it, pretty funky town, but a college and the Grand Canyon not too far away.

It probably doesn’t matter to those currently opposed to conviction that a particularly conservative right wing attorney Chuck Cooper spoke out and told us their excuse of not being able to pursue a prez who’s not in office is untenable. They know what they know and they know serving the loser is the end game of everything.

If it’s cold in Flagstaff I’ll just drive down to my BFFs place in Gilbert.

A secret ballot probably wouldn’t make any difference. Any Senator who responded to a question (and they would be questioned) about their secret vote and said it was a secret ballot etc. would be assumed by the Trumpistas to have voted for conviction, and this would be used against them big time by the candidates primarying them from the right anyway.

That would do it. I spent a summer in Phoenix after high school with a school friend and her family too long ago. Phoenix was small back then. I know nothing about it now except it’s too big and way too hot in summer. Tucson’s even too big for my tastes.

Absolutely correct. Reagan coopting the religious right and convincing a segment of the populace that Christianity and uncompromising conservatism were inextricable set the course we’re now on.

They are very open-minded to the fear of losing in a primary or (mostly) having their house firebombed by a Proud Booger boy. They are deathly afraid of their own Mobs.

This is where I find Democratic messaging weak. They should be openly stating that those who vote to acquit are voting to join the Sedition Caucus. That they, like Fox News, hate America and it’s ideals.

Take off the fucking gloves dammit!

My Latin is weak. Google is my friend.

“Centrist Republicans”? LOL.

The nonprofit Purple America Coalition and a sister political group were founded in December, and within days had dropped more than $300,000 on behalf of the Republican candidates in each of Georgia’s two Senate runoff contests.

  • Purple America bills itself as a voice for moderation and portrayed its endorsements as nonpartisan appeals to unity and pragmatism.
  • “We are Republicans. We are Libertarians. We are Independents. We are Democrats. And we ALL urge Georgians to vote for David Perdue on January 5th,” the group wrote on Twitter.
  • Purple America has so far declined to identify the people behind its group or its funding. But the organization’s vendors include Donald Trump’s former deputy White House counsel and consultants for Greene, a Georgia Republican.

It’s also paid for social media promotion from a network of right-wing personalities, many of whom encouraged or participated in the Jan. 6 pro-Trump demonstrations in Washington.
