Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) on Sunday said that he expects that the House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6 will issue “a significant” amount of subpoenas, which include his Republican colleagues in Congress.
I sure hope the Select Committee goes full blown “Oprah” when it comes to giving out subpoenas.
And that the DOJ fully backs all efforts to get those subpoenaed to actually appear and testify.
This is a big step. This is more than just a subpoena Kinzinger is talking about. This is for fellow Members of Congress, and Republicans at that.
I’m hoping that when the dust settles and tRump’s crimes are undeniable that Reps Kinzinger and Cheney are lauded as the true heroes that they are. I don’t agree with their politics but they have a clear vision on every citizen’s duty and the responsibility of putting country over party. My hat is off to both of them.
Kinzinger said he supports issuing subpoenas to anyone who has information about the… actions that then-President Trump took on Jan. 6.

Given the state of the GOP, I agree. Trump has degraded our politics that much. When we evaluate this Era, perspective will have been both a casualty and a lesson learned.
Watching Jordan and McCarthy trying to deflect in that scenario will be worthy of good snacks and refreshing beverages.

Sure seems to be: I’ve seen a couple commentaries that express uncertainty about whether such subpoenas would be enforceable; apparently there is no precedent.
But McCarthy, Jordan et all have a bit of a problem too, particularly if they are called and refuse. I guess we’ll see how far their gaslighting about Jan 6 takes them.
When they don’t show up, what sort of potted plant should be sat on the witness table in their stead?
On second thought, maybe dishes of septic scum would be more appropriate.
Who actually is supposed to enforce the subpoena in that event? Can we ask for live videos feeds on the take down and hauling them back.

At the end of that frenetic ramble he gave when questioned about talking to Trump on 6 January, Jordan took care to act all indignant at the procedural sins of the Democrats, as though he, Jordan, had ever morally progressed beyond Juvenile Delinquent in his entire life.

As early as January 7, my Rep was saying loudly and clearly that before the attempted coup on January 6, she saw numerous Republican House members giving “tours” to lots of MAGA types. I’m sure Pelosi and McCarthy heard this too, and explains why the right wants to bury this investigation. I’m sure there are a lot of insurrectionists sitting in Congress right now. They need to be exposed, and to suffer the most serious consequences possible.
Enforceability of congressional subpoenae depends on who controls the Department of Justice.
