Enforceability of congressional subpoenae depends on who controls the Department of Justice.

Well it shouldn’t mean that while the committee is fighting over Jordan and McCarthy that Nancy can’t relieve them of their duties for the foreseeable future.

Plus if the committee doesn’t subpoena Trump then it’s again a case of picking off his underlings. At some point those that support him will leave, and he’ll be the Orange Cheese that stands alone.

This is a big step. This is more than just a subpoena Kinzinger is talking about. This is for fellow Members of Congress, and Republicans at that.

And, again, this exemplifies McCarthy’s stupidity. Of course, Cheney and Kinzinger are stating the blindly obvious -that anyone with any credible information about 1/6 should come forward, by subpoena if necessary.

But considering McCarthy publically humiliated Cheney by gleefully ostracizing her from leadership and has made both persona non grata within the Republican caucus, rubbing salt in the wound by calling them “Pelosi Republicans”, he’s made certain they go after him with even more tenacity. Frankly, they hold a lot more power then he does right now.

I guess he forgot the lesson about keeping your enemies close, especially when you have much to hide and be ashamed of.

This crap again. Pelosi doesn’t have a magic speaker’s wand. Removing critters from committees takes a two thirds vote of the House. Expelling a member takes a two thirds vote of the House. There are no incremental measures below those two, unless you count the utterly meaningless censure.

Sure seems to be: I’ve seen a couple commentaries that express uncertainty about whether such subpoenas would be enforceable; apparently there is no precedent.

Maybe it’s the wrestling and getting in and out of chokeholds (and molestation indictments)…but I would swear that Jordan really thinks he can Houdini himself in and out of trouble by being clever with his words…

At the end of that frenetic ramble he gave when questioned about talking to Trump on 6 January, Jordan took care to act all indignant at the procedural sins of the Democrats, as though he, Jordan, had ever morally progressed beyond Juvenile Delinquent in his entire life.

This is why McCarthy will never be Speaker. Eventually the idiots in the Republican caucus will realize McCarthy giving into their every thoughtless, knee-jerk whim was actually the dumbest thing he could have done at every step. So, naturally, they’ll blame him and make him walk the plank.
