Kansas Gov Sues GOP Lawmakers Over Church Gatherings

If Trump were the leader of any other country, but ours, our media would call him an authoritarian, and the phrase “ “declining strongman” or something like that, might even be thrown about.

Thanks.

From what I can tell here in Wichita, people have for the most part been doing the right things. There was a story a day or so ago, though, about the county getting ready to enforce the ordinance closing all but designated essential businesses, which suggests that not everyone has been playing ball (the story offered no details).

The county to our immediate east has been less compliant, from what I gather; it’s more rural, but it’s considered part of the Wichita metropolitan area. Those people do occasionally cross county lines . . .

I think the virus may be everywhere beyond our suspicions, we just don’t have enough data to know to what extent.

We can say “Happy Good Friday” again?

Thank you, Donald!

I was getting so tired of say “Merry Good Friday.”

The bit about Kroger is curious to me. Supposedly, at the national level Kroger has implemented various guidelines, and here in Wichita there’s a regional chain that’s a subsidiary of Kroger that will begin controlling the numbers of shoppers in their stores at any one time, and will experiment with one-way aisles as well. The workers who bring groceries out to your car for pick-up aren’t allowed to touch the customers’ cars at all.

All of which is to say, maybe the Kroger stores are following state policies (or lack thereof) rather than something mandated at the corporate level.

Stupid, so damn stupid. Unbefuckinglievably Stupid!

That photo he uses on his Twitter feed is at least 10 years old. He doesn’t look anything like that now. It’s a reverse Dorian Gray effect.

The country is missing such a great opportunity to better our communities. We should encourage people of faith to gather in large groups, hug each other, high-five, pass a communion chalice, and otherwise celebrate the mythical resurrection of their mythical savior. In 2 to 14 days afterwards, a true blessing would be brought about. Praise! Glory! Amen and Awomen.

Predict what will happen - - - Kansas Supreme Court will …

  • drag feet / kick action into next week - then take no action because specific point is moot

  • Affirm legislature’s action …

  • Affirm & Augment legislature’s action …
making Easter Service attendance mandatory under emergency powers.

… would that also include the ancient sacred ritual of licking the facial skin of 12 fellow worshipers ?

Things are really fucked up when Kansas has a governor who makes sense and Texas has a governor who has declared that churches are essential businesses and abortions take up needed hospital beds.

It sure gets clear.

True cases are anywhere from 5 to 8 times that which is reported…

Since Mar 27, roughly 17,000 deaths have occured which are attributable to COVID-19, in the zeroth order approximation, multipile this by 1/CFR, which is ~2.5%, which gives ~680,000 cases on that day. That was 14 days ago, even for a 5 day doubling, that gives > 3M cases today…

BTW, I found verification for the methodology of my toy model I wrote about some time forever ago…

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30195-X/fulltext

The “experts” used a higher lagged mortality rate, which would reduce the number of current true cases, which my little toy model says could be as high ~5.6M…
