U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, quickly becoming one of the most well-known Donald Trump appointees, cited an anti-LGBTQ group in a new ruling concluding that drag shows are too “sexualized” for children and likely not entitled to First Amendment protection.
decision centered on the president of West Texas A&M University banning a family-friendly drag show on campus, Kacsmaryk cited the group Gays Against Groomers
Not sure what’s weirdest – that West Texas A&M was considering a campus drag show, or that this group chose the acronym G.A.G.
So the republican position is now “parents should be making the decisions about what is appropriate for their own children rather than the government ( and in this case not even elected government but a right wing nut job judge) except for the culture, books, entertainment, history etc. deemed inappropriate for kids by republican government officials?
Looking for logic in Republican appointed judge opinions is like snipe hunting at night. You’ve heard it exists, but you’ll be damned if you’ll ever find it.
Shocked to learn that those with a tradition of condemning activist judges happily grant them office when they rule in their favor and happier still when they are extremely activist, nay downright feral, when doing so; it’s just so unexpected. /s
