Judiciary Committee Democrats To Boycott Barrett Vote

Now that is some quality snark. However do you think of this stuff?

ETA: @dr_coyote: you left one out. @gusfabriani: horse pucky.

This isn’t over and republicans know it. Their cries will fall on deaf ears in 2021.

Unfortunately, lawyers ask the questions. The Supreme Court effects all citizens. Senators who are not lawyers should have been on the committee. There were many non-legal questions that should have been asked. No wonder the whole thing was a mess and they didn’t even ruffle her skirt.

The problem goes much deeper, unfortunately.

Sure but the having only lawyers on the committee is a mistake.

Good. No reason to share a room with a bunch of covid positives. I hope the floor vote is similarly boycotted. Make them bring in their sickos to fill a quorum.

Schumer on Maddow a couple minutes ago suggested that they need at least two Dems for a quorum on the committee, which would lead to a rules change by overriding the Parliamentarian with a Nuclear Option majority vote to ignore when Lindsay Graham ignores the quorum rule. I am far from knowledgeable about Senate procedural rules, but that seems like a plausible explanation.

…and pre-existing health conditions, and who have loved ones meeting any of those criteria, and those who think the right to practice your religion ends where my skin begins, which would be a majority of this country. Just not the majority of those allowed to vote.

Da, komrad.

ETA: That was a bit unfair. Having reviewed some of your posting history, it’s possible that you are an ultra-rare Bernie Bro who is totally anti-Trump and also now totally anti-abortion and anti-LBTQ. Forgive me if you are genuinely that person.

I’m Doug Sanders and I approve of this move.

I do like the idea of setting up a february garland confirmation vote

Ambiguous. Sometimes tomorrow is called this Thursday. In which case the Thursday after that becomes next Thursday.

Or shallower, depending on how you look at it.

Yes.

Same goes for the Supreme Court, and perhaps other venues also.

The relevant rules, including the part Schumer has in mind, were recently outlined.

And people who believe in religious freedom.

Her nomination may be part of what is costing Trump suburban women.

She’s dishonest. Several speeches dealt with her position on abortion and she failed to disclose them. And her purported ignorance of the criteria Trump would use for a nominee was ludicrous.

Plus …what sort of parent takes children to an unmasked gathering these days.

FYI - new photos show massive bruising on McConnell’s hands along with band-aids.

Those are some shitty rules. Dems should take full advantage.

Seriously, they basically only need to delay the Handmaid’s Tale confirmation vote by a few days to make it utterly illegitimate if Joe wins the election.

So what did you do to help Hillary defeat Trump?
