Originally published at: Judicial Branch Instruct Employees To Ignore Mass DOGE Email - TPM – Talking Points Memo
The federal court system told staff on Saturday evening to ignore DOGE’s latest message, which demanded that federal employees submit a bulleted list documenting their recent activities. Multiple staffers across the judiciary, including federal judges, received the DOGE message on Saturday, sources told TPM. The message was sent from an Office of Personnel Management email…
Always a good idea, 30 days into a new administration, to piss off the entire federal bench – in front of whom you’re currently arguing countless illegal orders – by jerking them around as if they were new hires in Accounting rather than a separate, Constitutionally-enshrined branch that has the power to snip your goolies.
“Hey, I have an idea. Let’s shoot ourselves in the dick.”
“Okay! I’m down with that.”
“Great. You go first.”
That’s the nature of slop. The administrative branch might as well be leaderless as the sycophants, toadies, and underbosses are mostly reduced to guessing what the boss really wants never mind what he says.
The important question: What is the judicial system (read: judges) going to do about this recklessness? How are they going to stop the clowns?
Careful!
Bond Villain Musk might interpret this as an assassination threat!
Make America Gag Again!
In this case, they have no legal authority over the judicial branch employees who received the messages.
Oh, that’ll stop Trump and Musk.
Is it too much to hope that Trump/Musk have gone too far and Americans are noticing?
Honestly I’ve been asking myself that question almost every day for weeks: when is enough, enough for cry’n out loud.
We’re becoming a mafia state with one boss aligning his family with Putin’s, another battering citizens apparently to further his buzz, and critical social/medical programs going up in smoke, and bugger-all the rest, and there has just got to be gag reflex around here somewhere!
This is a pure (if deranged) domination move. It’s Elmo saying “I own you and don’t you forget it,” saying “I wrecked Twitter and now I’m wrecking the government.” But Elmo is off his nut and the judiciary demonstrates how to respond: blow it out your ass.
“You’re gonna fire thousands of workers because they won’t obey your public order to kiss your ass? You know what Elmo, not publicly kissing your ass doesn’t amount to waste fraud or abuse, not even for a lot of Trumpers. Go for it, buddy.”
Pissing off govt workers is a feature here, not a bug.
The purpose of this exercise is precisely to have govt employees resist, or at least ignore, the demand that they list just five things they did last week to justify the paychecks they get drawn on the tax payments of ordinary Americans. Even the few who take the exercise seriously and try to comply are not very often going to produce anything that is likely to be at all convincing of the value to the public of what they are doing as govt workers.
This is populism theater. It’s not at all clear that it’s not effective populism theater. They want large swathes of the govt to just disappear, not just the mostly probationary employees they are so far mostly targeting. They say this. Believe them.
The theater is designed to influence the upcoming fight over the spending bills and the debt ceiling. For the first time ever, we’re going to have the president, rather than the House, as the chief hostage-taker. Any president is in a much stronger position using the hostage cudgel provided by both processes, and a president who doesn’t much care about the consequences of shut-down or default is really going to be in the power position.
So, going into a fight which I think it’s reasonable to expect them to try to get their power to cut govt employees made all nice and legal so they can really go after all of them, not just those on probation, of course they are going to prep the battlefield with the results of this little theatrical exercise. Most govt workers will refuse to let themselves be held accountable for the value to the public of their work, because they refused to answer. The answers that do come in will predictably provide plenty of examples that can be easily characterized as proof that this or that dept does nothing valuable. Plenty of responses that do come will be quite disrespectful. Lots of material for the fight to give Musk and Trump the explicit legal authority to wield the ax.
MAGA: Okay kids, we are heading out. There is grocery money on the counter and the number we can be reached at. And what did we agree on?
TRUMP Admin.: No Parties. No problem. Feed and water the dictatorship and keep the noise down. Don’t disturb the neighbors. We’ve got this.
Now you have a good time and we will keep an eye on things. Y’all’ deserve some time off.
MAGA: We will be back in a few days. Okay, hugs and kisses!
Trump Admin: Aw geeeeee…
A few days later…
You have to wonder, what would happen if the Trump administration decided to ignore every court ruling he disagreed with? What could they do? Our judicial branch has power largely because the other two branches historically have agreed that they should. If Trump says “Screw the courts, I’ll do what I want!” and Congress doesn’t object, what could be done?
Incompetent oligarch oligarchs incompetently.
And be proud of ourselves for our marksmanship
One potential response to Musk:
- I got fired from my federal job
- I signed up for unemployment and food stamps to feed my two elementary school children.
- I put the cat out and told her it’s time she hunts for her own food.
- I put the kids out and told them to get jobs at Tesla.
- I opened up Gateway Pundit on my computer and laughed as I read how we are punking the libtards.
My Senator was busy last week:
5 things I did last week Musk
-
Successfully asked you to rehire 300 nuclear & avian flu workers you “accidentally” fired
-
Pressed you to pay attention to rising household costs
-
Stood up for vets
-
Fought against your tax cuts for the rich
-
Stood with
