Judges Are Starting To Catch On To Trump's Utter Lawlessness

Today’s Heather Cox Richardson and Paul Krugman:

Well, the ICE goons are out in front in this regard - many of them are already wearing masks of one sort or another. It’s the subtext of “I was only following orders”.

Not mine. Timeline seems reasonable:

Maybe that picture can be replaced soon with a group shot of federal judges.

It’s a very big and very dangerous problem that I hope someone can defuse.
It will, however, surprise me if that ‘someone’ is in any way in the administration our electorate saddled us with.

Any responsible camera person or newsie should make the names fuzzy and unusable behind where the press is forced to report from, because we really don’t know if those ‘alleged criminals’ have been actually charged with any crimes or had their day in court awaiting some other proceeding. Since this maladministration plays fast and loose with the law putting their thumb on the scale of justice, it would be best to err on the side of caution and not give them their propaganda coup. Its a form of enabling if they fail to block out those pictures somehow.

I also hope Blondi someday ends up where AG John Mitchell ended up, which in his day was in court having to defend himself. That led to him eventually being convicted for “merely following orders” and being a corrupt piece of shit AG tied to the Watergate break-in.

On January 1, 1975, [John] Mitchell, who was represented by the criminal defense attorney William G. Hundley, was found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and perjury. Mitchell was sentenced on February 21 to two-and-a-half to eight years in prison for his role in the Watergate break-in and cover-up, which he dubbed the “White House horrors”. As a result of the conviction, Mitchell was disbarred from the practice of law in New York. The sentence was later reduced to one-to-four years by United States District Court Judge John J. Sirica. Mitchell served 19 months of his sentence at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery (in Maxwell Air Force Base) in Montgomery, Alabama, a minimum-security prison, before being released on parole for medical reasons.

now grinding through the courts.

aka “the problem”.

It is vital that courts protect the right of the Trump government to act sort’a kind’a criminalish without stepping on its god-given right to totally ignore the court.

Although some of this is now being reversed (surprise!) this was reported at least 4 days ago, with donors of some of the artifacts being contacted.

That was published on Thursday. On Friday, it was already walked back, and specifically stating “it never left”, but totally ignoring that donors of the exhibits were previously notified.

On “60 Minutes” Scot Pelley did a great job of explaining why Executive Producer Bill Owens resigned rather than allow any apparent loss of journalistic integrity.

“None of our stories has been blocked, but Bill felt he lost the independence that honest journalism requires. No one here is happy about it. But in resigning, Bill proved one thing – he was the right person to lead 60 Minutes all along,” he said.

The NYTs playing dumb:

  • NYT: Why Did a Charity Tied to Casey DeSantis Suddenly Get a $10 Million Boost?

It’s an open secret now that the money was illegally funneled to a SuperPAC run by DeSantis’s former Chief of Staff, now Florida AG. Who then successfully defeated Florida’s legal weed amendment vote.

The only surprise here is that Florida Republicans look prepared to hold DeSantis accountable for his corruption.

Calm down everyone. In the very narrowest definition of subsidy we kind of are subsidizing Canada, the same way I subsidize Kroger/Safeway/Aldi when I buy groceries. It makes perfect sense, Kroger/Safeway/Aldi should all become JNBenson Inc. because I should not have to subsidize them anymore.

Or the tariff model works too. I buy too much from Kroger/Safeway/Aldi so I should impose a %125 tariff on them and send the money to BP.

Why it makes perfect sense.
