Judge Rejects DOJ’s Emergency Request To Halt Bolton Book Release

While technically a loss for the Justice Department, Royce had scathing words for Bolton’s conduct …

Wow! TPM is on a first-name basis with the judge now. I’m impressed!

Whatever the Trump response to this decision is, remember Trump hired him. He claims to have hired Bolton to give him a break or chance. Hiring someone to be the National Advisor is not akin to giving an intern an opportunity to prove him or herself. Trump will try to spin this. Heads-up media, do not let him.

Some of it was post classified. From what I’ve read there were 5 or 6 claims of classified materiel breech. 2 aren’t shit as the classification took place after the book was per-cleared. 1 may or may not have been classified by a person entitled to do so but the last two are pretty solid.

Assignment for the day - compare and contrast a 45 minute Grateful Dead jam with a Trump unhinged stream of semi-consciousness rant.

On second thought, forget Trump. Just listen to the music.

well, Bolton said Donnie is a dumbo. we can’t let that get out or our foreign allies might start thinking we aren’t reliable.

Trump will probably try to fire the judge, of course. And then fire the judge who won’t let him fire the judge. Nobody puts the world’s oldest living baby in a corner. Except federal judges, of course. And Nancy Pelosi. And the voters. And, soon, Biden. And the movers on the morning of January 20, 2021.

IF the folks doing the pre-clearance missed something, Bolton cannot be held legally responsible for it as I understand the law.

Lamberth also asserted that, having viewed non-public government declarations describing the classified material in Bolton’s book, he is “persuaded that Defendant Bolton likely jeopardized national security by disclosing classified information in violation of his nondisclosure agreement obligations.”

So, the book goes on sale, everyone reads and discusses it, the Government takes the proceeds, and, HUGE bonus, Bolton goes to jail. I think I like it.

Psssst! Our foreign allies already know that and have for some time.

My take on this is that if Bolton says and gives evidence that Trump is senile, a drug addict and incapable of performing his duties, the adversary nations, using this knowledge could move against us or an ally knowing Trump is an unreliable leader. ‘Course they already know that, but that’s just one of the pretexts. It’s all very vague and dodgy. All sorts of shit is classified that has no business being classified. Bolton’s sin, as I take it, is that he didn’t get final permission before he acted. That’s pretty straightforward, but not jailworthy. He’ll pay a fine.

I actually hope they screw Bolton out of his money. That’s two assholes with one stone as far as I’m concerned and it makes me happy.

On the nose thunder. I think there will be noise about a lawsuit, then Bolton’s lawyers will insist that Trump and Barr testify, then magically the whole thing will disappear.

I thought the same thing, will we get the chance to read the book passages in comparison to these descriptions now?

What will Trump do post-presidency, other than face the legal music? Run the Center for Disease Propagation? Help pick the location of the future Trump Presidential Library and Fried Clam Shack (where they definitely never clean the fryers with Lysol or bleach)? Star in a new version of the Apprentice, Fake Presidential Version, where he fires or tries to fire literally everyone, repeatedly? Oh, wait, he’s already done that, for nearly the past 4 years.
