The judge overseeing Trump’s RICO prosecution in Georgia indicated during a marathon Friday hearing that he was unsure if the case could go to trial by August 2024, the time that state prosecutors have proposed. The judge did not seem to think the case could go to trial before August and expressed some concern about it happening on Election Day, suggesting it might get pushed to 2025.
Maybe I’m just being pessimistic here, but I’m getting the awful feeling his delays across all his many cases are simply going to succeed, as he has so often done before. And everyone is going to defer to him in the disqualification suits. We can’t save ourselves from our idiots unless he loses the damn election. What a country.
There is not going to be a Georgia trial. Period. The trial for the confidential documents in Florida is not happening either. Now the Trump team only needs to concentrate on delayed the DC J6 trial. Delayed justice is denied justice. And some people still argue that Trump is not above the law.
Damnit judges! Running for office is a fucking choice, not a right! He is in everyone’s head so much that we wouldn’t consider this under any other profession or even another office.
“Can you imagine the notion of the Republican nominee for president not being able to campaign because he’s in some courtroom defending himself?” Sadow said.
Seems to me that Trump is currently doing almost all of his campaigning with his thumbs while he sits on his golden throne. Why can’t he continue during bathroom breaks while he’s on trial?
Allowing an insurrectionist to run in a democracy because you can’t prosecute him fast enough is like making money selling bad health advice during a plague. Unprosecutable when perpetuated to the benefit of the Republican Party.
We lost this fight when the Left lost its funding, sometime in the early 1970s. The money, the companies, won and the unions died. The rest is just waiting for the workhouse. If only the sons of wealth were in any qualified to wield that power.
Fascism is when money is so concentrated that its sons can act in any way they please, which historically seems to end up some ecstatic journey into the depths of a murderously self righteous hell.
IANAL, so my question is where does it say that a president can not be tried for a crime while in office? The Constitution’s Supremacy Clause just says the federal law supersedes the state law.
Just because you are running for office does not give you entitlement to avoid a criminal trial.
We better make sure Trump loses at the
ballot box. Then he can squirm and throw
ketchup all he wants, rant on his Truth /s
and let justice serve him a nice slice of
pie behind a high wall or bars.
“This trial would not take place at all until after his term in office,” Sadow replied
Which is exactly what Trump is aiming for. Which is why these judges overseeing these cases need to get their heads out of their asses and get on with it and make it as speedy a trial schedule as humanly possible.
If this judge let’s him skate then there is no hope. There is no legal reason for this trial to be delayed that relates to The Creature being a candidate for anything. I’ll stop now. I have to watch my blood pressure. Jeeezus H. Christ!
“Can you imagine the notion of the Republican nominee for president not being able to campaign because he’s in some courtroom defending himself?” Sadow said.
Mr. Sadow, can you imagine a valid political party nominating for President a man who’s already been found guilty of financial crimes and is on trial for the penalty, will highly likely be on trial for Federal felonies before the the Republican Convention, and has several other state and Federal felony trials stacked up, waiting to get started, with him as the accused?
A Presidential campaign does not supersede the rule of law. It cannot do so, in a society of laws. What kind of society do you want to live in?
I don’t recall Eugene Debs getting paroled so he could campaign for president. If Deb’s can campaign from jail, Trump can work campaigning around his trial schedule.
