Former President Trump flailed and moaned after the November 2020 election — a tantrum of proportions so huge, a federal judge says, that he won’t get the legal immunity that typically protects presidents from lawsuits.
It’s disheartening that judges have to point out the obvious. None of this should be that complicated. Trump serially lies about literally everything and blurts things out that show both his state of mind and guilt/complicity. His legal defense in all this seems to be either “I don’t/didn’t know” and/or “Kidding.” I just want this to be over. It’s exhausting.
Funny, I find this ruling very heartening indeed. He doesn’t get immunity because he was just too outrageous and the basis of the immunity doesn’t apply. It’s good news.
Well, he’s already been dethroned. He probably won’t get his head cut off. I guess it depends how you define “comeuppance” in this case. I think the worst fate would be for him to die in relative obscurity and general contempt. If we’re patient I think it could happen. Your mileage may vary.
He’s perennially broke. He might be broke right now. We just don’t know. And please, people, enough with the “massive war chest.” On this subject I believe half of what I see and none of what I hear.
My “dream” outcome would be for the banks to - all at once - call all his loans in, since he has lied about what collateralizes them. I would like to see him and as many of his “main” three kids as can be convicted in jail. In short, financially ruined and in jail. And, since he is in Florida, it would be a hilarious bonus if his being convicted of a felony prevents him from voting. And, finally, for the world to collectively decide that the “Trump” brand is poisonous. Like “Hitler”.
