The New York state judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money case pushed the GOP candidate’s sentencing until past the November election, saying in a Friday order that the upcoming election had played a role in his decision. “The members of this jury served diligently on this case, and their verdict must be respected and…

Lock him up! After the election is fine, it will make it harder for him to:

1 - claim ‘election interference!!!’

2- interfere with the election after he loses

To say I’m disappointed would be one of my lifetime’s most egregious understatements

I’m so disappointed, but sadly not surprised. I don’t think he’s ever going to be held to account for anything he does.

If any of you believed that sentencing was going to happen before the election I have a seaside property in Fukushima to sell you.

TSF has made a mockery of our entire judicial system from scotus on down. I expect him to announce his permanent candidacy for any and all upcoming elections by the end of the day.

Sentencing him would likely have boosted his polls. Every other damn case he lost has. I’d rather beat the crap out of him via the ballot box. This despite his deserving of extensive incarceration.

No. The corrupt Judicial System has bent itself backwards to favor Trump.

“The members of this jury served diligently on this case, and their verdict must be respected and addressed in a manner that is not diluted by the enormity of the upcoming presidential election,”

He was convicted over three months ago. Now he won’t be sentenced until at least 5 months after the jury reached its verdict. That lengthening gap represents a lot of things, but I don’t think it represents “respect” for the jury’s verdict. On the contrary.

I am so tired of this two tiered justice system of Republicans (and especially Trump) and everyone else. Granted the “everyone else” tier is even further divided. If only Lady Justice was truly blind…

Because of course it fucking was. I think what Jennifer Lawrence says about Weinstein also applies to tRump. He is a horrible fucking ass boil that NEVER goes away!

Side note: her shoes are amazing. Love the 70s vibe.

Another Take:

We all know that, as soon as Trump is sentenced is when SC jumps in and decrares for “reasons” Trump is not guilty and clears his conviction.

If this happens before the Election it becomes technically incorrect to call him a convicted felon.

So postponement ensures Harris stays running against a felon.

I spent 25 years as a criminal defense lawyer. I rarely defended people who had the means to afford to post bail, and many were ineligible for bail due to the severity of the crimes or other reasons. Whether they were in or out of custody at the time of a guilty verdict in a felony case, they were invariably remanded to custody at the moment the verdict was rendered by the jury. None of them were held in contempt by the trial judge on multiple occasions and none of them had their sentencing delayed to accommodate their sense of privilege.

Judging from the reaction to the indictments, I think pre-election sentencing had the real potential to help Trump in the election. So I am kind of relieved.

I would think he’s still a convicted felon, but not yet a sentenced convicted felon.
