If SC voids his conviction he’s no longer a convicted felon…
SC will feel forced to jump in if he’s sentenced…

So…Merchan doesn’t want to send him to jail BEFORE the election?
ok, Got it.
I actually think this makes it more likely Judge Merchan will sentence Trump to jail time.
Allen Weisselberg could be his celly.
I should add, this is contingent upon Trump losing November 5, which I believe will happen.
Fuckity, fuckity, fuck, fuck
At this point this gets a ¯|.(ツ).|¯ from me. The people with the power have collectively decided that Trump’s crimes don’t matter. There’s aught we can do about it.
Either no person is above the law, or…
I’m a glass half full person. While I’m thinking the decision is wrong it may just p*ss off those that think the Orange PO really deserves prison (like me). And it seems the only way justice will be served is if Don the Convicted looses this November.
Anything that energizes the vote for VP Harris is okay in my book.
It’s way past time to still think that the judicial system is going to save us from Trump. Only our votes can do so. Even then, the current criminal Supreme Court may thwart democracy and install a dictator. With this Court and a close election, all bets are off.
Maybe the grim reaper will step in.
I want to turn this setback into a comment about relying on the court or some sort of external force to stop Trump, when only we can, but that is just a fucking cliché. This sucks.
Edit:
Sorry. My comment ended up sounding like a critique of what you are saying, when I agree, I’m just very very bitter.
Merchan is a total coward, complicit in Trumps crimes now. Absolute corruption, he should resign if he is too scared.
This thought crossed my mind as well, although the special treatment he gets really grinds me.

Fair.
Unfair, and unkind.
On first consideration My conclusion is Merchan is a fucking coward. But after some more time to absorb this man’s words…
“Adjourning decision on the motion and sentencing, if such is required, should dispel any suggestion that the Court will have issued any decision or imposed sentence either to give an advantage to, or to create a disadvantage for, any political party and or any candidate for any office,” Merchan wrote.
… … … … … … …
And have come to the conclusion that conviction for 34 felonies carries no weight with Merchan. Consequently I hold that Juan Merchan looks to be a coward unwilling to dispense justice on donald trump.
Apparently trump could actually shoot someone on 5th ave at noon on a sunny day and not be held to account for it because he’s running for office and is therefore beyond any law. Apparently running for office confers legal immunity. So if I were to run for Mayor of Tucson, for example… or maybe governor of Arizona… I could rob my local Wells Fargo branch with complete assurance I would not be held accountable for my illegal activity.
There is no justice any longer folks. Look to your family arms stash.
In the Prosecuting Donald Trump podcast they said that “convicted” is not technically accurate until sentencing. “Found guilty” is the term they used. It looks like you could make the technical argument that he’s not a “convicted felon” during the election contest.
This is Bullshit!!! Most posting here would have been sentenced and behind bars by now. Our Justice system is corrupt beyond belief.
I’m not that pessimistic. I believe he’ll lose the election and spend the next few years winding through the court system and eventually land in prison. Or some equivalent to prison due to the Secret Service complication.
It will depend on juries, and juries can be fickle, but he has two Federal trials and one State (GA) trial that could land him there. So the odds are good. My only fear is that he’ll die first, which is certainly possible depending on how long this takes.
Bending over backwards to let Trump get away with it, part 97 billion. These judges and prosecutors are too corrupt to actually enforce the law against Trump from Garland through the military.
Even 1 month was too long of a delay, these judges are inexplicably lax with their time allowances over and over, “take 4 weeks to write a page”, and now that the election is months away suddenly they cant do their jobs!
Merchan is a coward, Chutkan doesnt give Trump a free pass because of a job Trump wants to start in 5 months from now. What other criminal gets breaks like Trump? Merchan is a total coward and failure, and may bring down the country because of this stupidity and corruption.
Voting is so important in every election, but even more so now because of the corruption of the courts. Voting is citizen power and an expression of the will of them. I do take some comfort in the recent fundraising of the Harris Walz campaign. It has been reported that the campaign raised $361M from 3M donors in August, interestingly an average of $120 per donor!! While not a vote, it is an expression of voters’ will and their preferences for the leadership and policies of this country. P.S. I called my county Dem Harris Walz office, hoping to secure a yard sign. I was told that they were experiencing a flood of people stopping by and phone calls hoping for the same.
