Judge Cannon Appears To Ignore Gov’t Filing For Exceeding 200 Word Limit - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Few prejudgment rulings are appealable. Neither this ruling, nor any of her previous rulings in the criminal documents case, are subject to interlocutory appeal.

To me she looks like Sarah Huckabee after the plastic surgery.

Loosey Cannon is turning out to be TFG’s most effective attorney.

Oops. Just saw you already answered my question.

Of course she did. Anyone notice that Fat Boy hasn’t said a word about her? Maybe we need to check her robes and hair for his DNA.

Can they get this case away from this incompetent disaster?

She is absolutley in the bag for Trump.

WTAF is DOJ waiting for? It should’ve demanded she be removed the day this case was assigned to her.

Get her removed. No other Judge is pulling the crap she is. Not just biased but in bed with the Orange Menace.

Serious question. What does a prosecutor do when they have a strong feeling that a judge is corruptly biased on behalf of a defendant? How do they adjust their pretrial motion strategy to mitigate against that corruption?

Seems like they should just take the new rule and make sure that every single notice they file going forward is 199 words.

He’s going to get through the NY Civil Fraud Case, the DC Jan6th case, the Atlanta Rico Case, and seemingly two rounds of libel cases before Canon can get through pre-trial motions.

It seems like there should be some punishment for her after all of this is said and done, right? Like how can a district level judge just delay action on a national security/espionage case?

Nope. She would have been one of the “enforcers” making sure everyone else got in line.

Trump’s probably now trying to figure out how, after he’s elected and has killed both federal prosecutions, he can get Cannon to give up her lifetime appointment so he can nominate her for the position of Attorney General.

Just so people know, a “supplemental authority” generally is used when you find another relevant (and often, determining) court case opinion/precedent after you’ve filed your main brief. No way in hell was their “notice” was a “notice of supplemental briefing.”

Is it me, or does it seem like Cannon is daring Smith to ask for a recusal so Trump can play the “it’s rigged” card?

(disclaimer: I have no idea how the recusal process works. So, if I sound like an idiot…it’s because I am.)

“Future non-compliant notices or unauthorized filings will be stricken without further notice,” she wrote.

Someone doesn’t like truth tellers. Jack just hit a sore spot.

She does act awfully damn subservient to the Dotard, doesn’t she!

The unfortunate thing here is that the MAL documents case is, in this lawyer’s view, the strongest and most concise case against Trump. And it has the benefit of charging crimes that Trump committed after he was President.

I do think he will be convicted in this case, in spite of Judge Cannon. But, she won’t make it easy, and then when it comes time for sentencing I predict she will deviate signficantly from the federal sentencing guidelines, and that her sentence will be over turned on appeal.

As for sentencing, an apt comparison is Reality Winner, who took one document and gave it to the press, a document that showed how Russia attacked our election system, something we all should have been told about anyway. Winner got 63 months in federal prison, and was held in custody from the date of her arrest on the charges. She’s out on probation, but she got the longest sentence ever for this crime.

All of this, of course, turns on Donald Trump losing the election again on November 5, 2024.
