Racism is NEVER going away in America. It’s been around since the first White people came here and it is just as prevalent as it was then. Post Civil Rights Act in America it was constrained, to a bit, but not eliminated. It’s been around all over the world too. For millennia. It’s never going away. You lock it up with laws. Roberts hasn’t lived the life one must have lived to unlock it. He doesn’t know shit about it. In so far as Affirmative Action is concerned it served Thomas well. He knows exactly how important it is but unlike Robert’s who’s just ignorant Thomas is malignant.

Taranto maintains a YouTube account where he posts a variety of pro-Trump videos, and to which he also posted video of himself inside the Capitol on January 6.

I’m not sure his motives are evil. He lives in a comfortable carefree world that affords him a fantasy view of what’s outside it. He may believe that things are hunky dory in Black America. That’s possible if you ignore recent and distant history of race in America and are overly confident in yourself. Both of those faults live in his little Robert’s world. The truth about Racism in the USA is not in Robert’s world. Because he doesn’t want it to be.

Entrenched racism and racist laws and institutions that cannot be contested maintain the power and wealth of the moneyed class. Roberts’ constituency - the Fed Soc and the white elites - demand that those laws and norms stay in place. They believe a perpetually oppressed, impoverished underclass of desperate workers is what they need to maintain their power and wealth.
ETA …and the only way to keep the white working class from rising up with torches and pitchforks is to make sure they can keep crapping on the POC they view as below them.

Will SCOTUS Rule Against Gay Rights Based On The Plaintiff’s Lie? | Crooks and Liars

The Supreme Court will likely rule on Friday in favor of web designer and plaintiff Lorie Smith, backed by the extremist Christian group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), largely based on her claim that she wants to make wedding sites but can’t because she’ll be forced to do so for gay couples. But it sure looks like she fabricated the one gay couple she claims asked her for one.

Initially, no same-sex couple had asked her make a website for their wedding – not surprising since she wasn’t in the business of making wedding websites.
But after the case was filed, a same-sex couple named Stewart and Mike, according to court documents as The New Republic reports, did ask Smith for a wedding website. Stewart’s name, email address, phone number, and even his website URL were included in the filings, yet no reporter appears to have ever contacted him to verify his story.
Until now.
The New Republic did the fact checking that nobody else did. Yes, Stewart and his contact information are correctly listed. But unless he did a good job of lying to TNR reporter Melissa Gira Grant, it turns out he never asked for a wedding website, was married to a woman at the time of the supposed request and, since he’s a designer himself, hundreds of miles away, would probably never have asked the inexperienced Smith to do the work regardless.
I’m not a lawyer but it sure looks like Smith not only fabricated the wedding site request but committed perjury while she was at it. More from TNR (emphases added):
In a motion filed by the defense on October 19, 2016, arguing that the case should be dismissed, they state that Smith has received no actual inquiries for services and therefore has suffered no injury. The following month, in its response, ADF did not mention the September 2016 “Stewart” inquiry to refute the defense’s claims. Rather, ADF merely stated that it was not necessary for Smith to have received an inquiry in order to challenge the law over her feared consequences of denying services to a same-sex couple.

This seems to be a pattern. The football coach praying on the field case was based on lies, the anti-mifepristone case in TX is based on hypotheticals, the website case is completely made-up and also based on a hypothetical. In what world is it OK to cancel people’s civil rights in service to made-up injuries?
