John Roberts Keeps Wondering Why We Aren’t Done With This Whole Racism Thing Already

Speaking Of Footnotes …

One footnote to the majority opinion serves to undermine the whole enterprise. The service academies are essentially exempt from the new no-affirmative action rule:

This is fascinating and ironic in a couple of ways. If “wokeness” in the military is such a problem these days, then why is a diverse group of officers perceived as a good thing? And, if a diverse group of officers is a good thing for the military, why is it not an equally-good thing for colleges and universities?

Racism isn’t going away, full stop. It’ll take a thousand years of peace and a lot of inter-fuckin’ to do it.

We need to stop self flagellating over this on the Left. All those other countries are just as racist. Human beings as a matter of fact are stupid and racist. In the UK, for instance, which the majority of Americans, particularly thinking Americans, seem to regard as somewhere between Downtown Abbey and Four Weddings, the English did the Scots worse than the Americans did the Indians, and in the same century. They celebrate the fact in their national anthem. True story.

A human being is a monkey witnessed through a kaleidoscope. On a societal level we are so dumbed down we’re about as self directed as lobster. I’m 52 years old and spent nearly 30 of those years under the threat of immediate global nuclear annihilation.

Right now we are seeing the rich use the church to maintain a grip on power. They’ve been doing this for over 2000 years in this iteration. Our country has a legalized hate machine that generates billions while stamping out rage-filled automatons, and our capitalism has become so corrupt that you can go uncontested for making money selling health misinformation during a plague.

Time to start being rational about the human animal, and stop trying to fix things that need to die. If you don’t think those ailing, bitter souls, so heavily armed, aren’t ready to pour down your street in a river of lead aimed at anyone who looks different, seems different, has more money, eats kale, you’re mad.

These people come from the same people - the Northern Europeans - that crept out of their millenia of squalor to kill their own in the name of the king. Who need only a described enemy to grant themselves the imprimatur. In fact, they only call them Northern Europeans because Southern Europeans are Catholic. So reads the wars of Europe.

And so reads the evolution of man. It’s not the brave or the forthright or the brilliant that go on. It is the cowards and the backstabbers and the wincers and the flatterers.

Balls to mankind. I have more respect for a cat. Where’s the damn cat.

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. Rep. George Santos is set to return to court Friday for the first time since pleading not guilty last month to charges that he duped donors, stole from his campaign, collected fraudulent unemployment benefits and lied to Congress about being a millionaire.

There seems to be something malfunctioning with far-right vetting beyond simple incompetence. Otherwise mediocre con artists without any ethical sense can now rise to great heights. While Santos case has made waves in the US, a Finnish ultra-rightwinger, Vilhelm Junnila, lied his way into a position as Finland’s minister for economic affairs and employment – not a small accomplishment for a guy who used the “88” Heil Hitler symbol as his campaign slogan. Turned out Finland’s current pro-business government is not that pro-business and he had to step down from the post (but keeps his seat in parliament). He, too, had a very creative cv that was easily fact-checked for multiple errors, and he used the “performative signaling” common in ultra-right circles. Just yesterday, while winning a narrow vote of confidence from the parliment, he showed up in raccoon skins. Owning the libs is a thing in Europe, too.

This is actually very simple.

The military is more brown than corporate America, as such the SC can see the hazard of the optics of having only white people in charge sending black people to their death

Also, since military doesn’t pay millions, they don’t have to worry about sharing white riches with brown lesser folks.

I have a couple of things I need to say about this…

I get that people want to be angry that this supposed “good guy with a gun” didn’t magically, heroically solve the problem with gun violence in our country, but I don’t even begin to understand how anyone believed, for a heartbeat, that there’s something criminal about not putting yourself downrange of a guy with an semi-automatic weapon. Making this poor schmuck the scapegoat for our utter inability to overcome the NRA’s greedy, racist, corrupt lobbying is just… foolish.

Being so determined to be oblivious to how blacks are treated in this country while being so attuned to the suffering of white snowflakes being required to carry part of the burden of fixing racism is itself malignant.
He’d have been promoting the myth of the benign slaveholder if he’d lived prior to the Civil War.

Wasn’t it a group of Asian-Americans who brought this suit? Not arguing your larger point, just asking about details.

This is also consistent with all the anti-critical race theory stuff. Basically, what people like Roberts and DeSantis are saying is ‘it’s only racism when a white person says the n-word.’ They ignore or discount any and all forms of institutional or social bias (racial profiling, anyone?).

And if someone tries to talk about racial injustice, they’re the racist. Any consideration of race is a violation of “neutrality.” So I guess inequality just disappears on its own, huh, like water evaporating in the sun. No need to do anything about it.

Yeah, well, it’s not all bad news for Trump on this front:

Ignorance and evil have a long running cooperation agreement, and, I’d argue that willful, affirmative ignorance, (which Roberts obviously revels in), in the face of ample contrary evidence is, in point of fact, purely evil, as well as cowardly.
