Jim Jordan’s Brings His Anti-Rule-Of-Law Circus To Town

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

The House GOP’s hilarious-if-it-weren’t-so-corrupt subcommittee to attack the same federal law enforcement apparatus investigating many House Republicans and Donald Trump kicks off its first hearing today. It’ll be a doozy. It’s titled “Hearing on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.”

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1447871

First. Lots of stuff there. Reason for concern for Senator Fetterman.

Don’t care a lick about Gym Jordan’s Circus or Project Veritas.

What better place to start than Florida to go on the SS/Medicare offensive.

“Hearing on the Weaponization of the Federal Government”.
Yet another Republican confession disguised as an allegation.

Just remember, the Justice Department under Donald Trump was more politicized (the extent of which we’re still learning!) than at any time since Watergate.

First to read the article. That’s why we’re here, right?

Today, NPR’s Tamara Keith (“Tam” to her in-studio buddies, always the sign of professional journalists at work) was all over one of the 2023 State of Union speech’s biggest moments: Where Joe Biden’s phrase “Good luck in your senior year” originated. She interviewed a language expert and one of Biden’s high school classmates. NPR used to do journalism better, but now that its broadcasts are full of “support for” commercials, the network seems more concerned about offending its funders and less about hard-hitting, honest news coverage.

Biden being Biden. He comes from the old school of retail politics. At the Presidential level, that was on display in the 2019-2020 nominating campaign. Even though the others were all opponents, he didn’t burn any bridges.

The Morning Memo is always informative and often instructive, but I think today’s edition is one of the best

Just keep asking R’s when they’re going to get to their campaign promises.

Biden has fulfilled dozens of his, already. And he’s got two more years to go.

Just wondering: have you complained to NPR? There’s not much we can do about it

Arresting a reporter in Ohio

I’m guessing that they just didn’t like the fact that there was sound competing with the governor speaking, even though it was all the way at the other end of the room.”

The anchor handling the report said she heard the reporter saying, “The governor has just started speaking. I’m being told that I have to quit my report” before it was cut short.

Video captured by NewsNation affiliate WKBN-TV showed Lambert on his face on the ground being handcuffed. He was then taken outside and placed in the back of a sheriff’s patrol car.

Add this to book bannings, voter intimidation and election denial to get a very clear vision of the fascistgop’s version of ‘the land of the free’. They’re certainly not shy about putting their values on display.

Biden’s “slow amble” from the Chamber served another purpose. Screw you to the GQP response to the State of the Union which can’t start until 5 minutes after he leaves. Took him longer than last year, which was already a “gotcha” move.

This is a full-frontal attack on the rule of law masquerading as a probative investigation. Period. End of sentence.

And yet all of those corrupt sonsofbitches will happily and eagerly vote again and again and again for Republican filth, while deriding Democrats and liberals at each opportunity.

I do not feel the slightest bit of sympathy.
