Vice President JD Vance’s social media feed includes several notable extremist writers including one described as a “long-time proponent of eugenics” and another that has been dubbed a “neofascist lifestyle influencer.” The far right writers in Vance’s social network have gained attention in recent weeks. Vance is just interested in the full spectrum of political thought, all the way from racism, through fascism, to monarchism; all of it is food for thought in his lizard brain.

It’s springtime. JD Vance needs to touch some grass.

JD Vance is smug, corrupt, highly educated while stupid, immature, with a thirst for power and wanting to claim the foolish Trump banner by playing for time (Donnie is 78). He will (and must) fail.

This piece reads like a smear job, Talking. I read a lot of things I disagree with or find distasteful. You cannot know me from my reading habits.

Moreover, the “racial IQ gap” is hardly shocking, or telling of anything other than familiarity with the psychological literature. The existence of the gap has been settled science for many decades now. The controversy is over the causes of said gaps–what proportion of the gaps are due to environment versus genetics, etc.

Stick to reporting news, and leave the ad hominem out of Talking. Or at least keep it in the comments sewer.

Exactly.

So, tell where did JD get and push the “they are eating the cats and dogs” meme in Springfield, Ohio?

Which TSF repeated in the debate with Harris.

Also, where did all the gaslighting JD engaged in the Oval Office with Zelensky come from?

Musk is having the time of his life he doesn’t really care what happens to the government one way or another. For him it’s like setting on fire the Library of Alexandria or blowing up the Buddhas of Bamiyan, sheer pleasure on the vandalism.

There has been endless analysis of Trump’s psyche, which is pretty easy to read. Vance’s has gotten less attention, esp. from the professionals. I’ll give it a go. Each man is a very damaged human being, obviously. Each probably combined some proclivity (genetic, birth order, who knows what?) that didn’t help them overcome the lack of love and nurturance each experienced. Trump came from a world of daddy dominance and economic privilege, Vance from a world of no-daddy (even his grandpaw – pawpaw? I don’t know the parlance, but not a pawpaw patch – seems to have been ineffective, at best) and economic hardship. Unlike Trump, Vance had a type of intelligence to work from, and he was spurred by his hardships to overcome his disadvantages. Good for him! Maybe all along, that urge to overcome was spurred by resentment, or maybe the resentment was only a quiet thing until he got to OSU and esp. Yale. I dunno. Maybe that resentment was always a strong spur. I suspect the latter, because I don’t know how a person with a story like his could otherwise have taken such a strong turn. (Plus, see Hillbilly Elegy, where he blames the people he elegizes for their own problems.)

Envy and the resentment and desire for revenge it engenders – things for all of us to be on guard against. Wherever each of us starts from, envy and resentment are temptations we all face.

Still, the leap from a Yale law degree, marriage to a much more accomplished (and ambitious?) Indian wife, and Peter Thiel to out-and-out Nazism is something to wonder at. All because he never really had a father and only his grandmaw and wife have come through for him consistently? And his wife’s brown skin (as well as her being female) make them likely less intelligent?

Vance is such a jumble of psychological craziness: where are the professionals at analyzing this stuff?

PUTZ* is the perfect word to describe Vance.

*Both Definitions apply

His feed history does seem to be consistent with his public behavior and utterances. I am glad to know Vance is familiar with the psychological literature. I do not find that shocking at all. He just seems to be drawing a different a conclusion from his familiarity with it than I would say an objective social scientist would. He’s demagoguing from it.

I recall a time, when if someone associated with the left said something antisemitic, right-wing media would be all over anyone who was remotely connected with him. The left-winger would be required to publicly repudiate the antisemite. (But that repudiation would always be suspect.) Even if it was just a posed photo at an event. Especially if the antisemite or the left-wing figure were Black.

Not a professional, and far be it from me to try to make sense of JD Vance’s shape shifting, name shifting, beliefs and identities, but it all seems to boil down to massive insecurity, an overwhelming sense that he doesn’t belong. Common to people who come from ‘nothing’ to achievement. In the 70s pop psychology it was called the Cinderella complex, the feeling that you didn’t deserve your success, that you were ‘faking it’ and fear that you would be found out. There are a lot of parallels between the lives and marriages of JD and Usha Vance and Clarence and Ginni Thomas. The cult vibes of JD’s and Clarence’s Catholic conversion or Ginni as a cult survivor. JD has been figuring out who he’s supposed to be… who other people think he is, his whole life. Perhaps he comes across as an incoherent mess because inside he’s an incoherent mess.
