Ben Williamson is apparently not only a criminal but an effing stupid criminal. He could have left exactly the same impression on Hutchinson by stopping at “do the right thing” but still had a tiny bit of plausible deniability. Then he had to go on and say “and that you’re going to protect him and the boss”.

Yup. Maybe I’m wrong, but Passatino’s saying to her “You’re a secretary” is indicative of how they thought of her: implicit in that comment is a whole set of assumptions about her, most of them fairly dismissive of her. She matters to them only in so far as she does her job, and apparently one of those jobs, they believe, was protecting the boss.
