Virginia Thomas urged White House chief to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 election, texts show

Virginia Thomas, a conservative activist married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, repeatedly pressed White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in a series of urgent text exchanges in the critical weeks after the vote, according to copies of the messages obtained by The Washington Post and CBS News.

The messages – 29 in all – reveal an extraordinary pipeline between Virginia Thomas, who goes by Ginni, and President Donald Trump’s top aide during a period when Trump and his allies were vowing to go to the Supreme Court in an effort to negate the election results.

Right? I mean why bother to recommend charges if DOJ is just going to sit on it and do nothing – like it is doing with the Meadows recommendation right now.

The whole point here is to generate some fear of consequences so as to encourage cooperation with the committee. It wouldn’t hurt either to reinforce that the whole “rule of law” idea actually means something.

Instead, Garland’s fear of enforcing consequences is sending the message that the strategy of stonewalling and stalling to wait out the committee is the way to go.

No surprise because you just knew last week’s little drip of news was about getting in front of something. And here it is.

The insurrectionists were or still are literally in the Congress, White House and Supreme Coutt.

Hey, TPM

Two weeks ago, you had an add of a cute girl in a bikini with an impressive portfolio in reverse mortgages. This week, it’s…

Can we get more about reverse mortgages?   : - )

When her insurrection case reaches the Supreme Court will Clarence recuse himself or will he do us all a favor and shuffle off this mortal coil before it hits the shadow docket?

Thomas should have recused here, but he has no ethics whatsoever.

Truly gross. It’s a shame congress is too compromised to impeach Thomas as he deserves. And if he dies I’m guessing the republicans will obstruct a replacement on some bs pretext.

Garland apologists I swear to Christ. He ain’t gonna do squat.

Yes. It’ll be…

A Justice must be replaced by someone like minded, like Justice Thomas replaced Justice Marshall.

We’ve all been having those feelings for about five years now.

I have all kinds of deadlines at work. Every effing day. DoJ seems to not have deadlines. Like, I don’t know, statute of limitations maybe? IANAL, but, I live and work in the real world and dotting I’s and crossing t’s just folds into the same damn deadlines. Bosses don’t care what I need to do they just want it done.

Actually, it is a race! It is a race against the November midterms that could very well squelch the entire review of the Trump/Rethuglican RICO Coup D’etat leaving that malignant cancer to kill our democracy.

These investigations, indictment, and prosecutions need to become the DOJ’s first priorities and need to be expedited so that voters better understand what is really at stake here!

As much as I respect Merrick Garland, he needs to start kicking some butt in his own department and get this done!

Congress does however have the legal authority to physically apprehend someone and bring them before a Congressional committee to testify…it just hasn’t been done in almost a century is all. It’s one of the functions of the Sargent at Arms is my understanding.

And, while they are at it, would someone (DOJ, looking at you) please charge Navarro for theft of government property (he’s the one hauliing pictures, artifacts, and documents out the back door of the WH on moving out day?)

I do not question the veracity of what you write… but would really be interested in seeing a link to any kind of report or video.

“The Jan. 6 Select Committee on Thursday announced that it will hold a business meeting next week to consider a report recommending criminal contempt charges against former Trump White House officials Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino.”

They’re going to consider it? Next week? Welp now I know they’re really serious. Moving at lightning speed there.

Paperwork should have been drawn up in parallel with the subpoena, and filed the moment their scheduled appearance passed with them absent.
