The Jan. 6 Select Committee on Thursday announced that it will hold a business meeting next week to consider a report recommending criminal contempt charges against former Trump White House officials Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino.
I would like to see Ron Vara, and pretty much anyone else from the Sedition Edition stand up under the assault that Judge Jackson experienced this week. They do have something to hide.
Although the House similarly voted in December to refer former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows for criminal prosecution for contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the committee, the Justice Department has not pursued charges against the former Trump official.
How odd that Garland hasn’t pursued contempt charges in what amounts to the most important investigation ever conducted by the US House.
Too bad that Merrick Garland has all the good ass-whuppin’ clubs caged in the bowels of the DOJ.
It took Merrick the meek nearly 2 months to decide on prosecuting Bannon. It has now been three months since the January 6 committee referred Meadows for criminal contempt.
Bannon’s trial is slated for July 18. Anyone charged now could expect a trial in 2023, when the house could be in Republican hands. It isn’t clear if a trial would even proceed unbder this circumstance.
I love what they are doing in the house. It is simply a shame that Merrick Garland’s cowardice is protecting Republicans from the teeth of the DOJ.
