First, itā€™s not Garland who would do it. He has a mostly policy-oriented job.

Second, officially charging Meadows give Meadows and his lawyers access to material the J6 Committee may not want him to have.

  • Good point. However, I wonder why the committee would recommend contempt charges if they didnā€™t actually want him charged?
  • It absolutely is a race. It would be nice to hold the House, but it would be incredibly stupid to base a timeline on that assumption. Instead, the assumption must be that we lose the House when the new Congress is seated next January.

Exactly how do they propose to ā€œkick assā€? The Committee has declined to enforce its subpoenas, and has no power to prosecute crime.
