Jan. 6 committee “in discussions” with Trump lawyers = Jan. 6 committee “in discussions” with agents of insurrectionist/inciter of violence/autocrat wannabe.

IMO Trump will never testify, this is just Theater to keep the anti-GOP buzz down until after election day. Then we will see Trump’s real response. HUZZAH.

There will be a deluge of criticism if Garland, James and Willis pursue criminal charges and indictments against a declared candidate for President. So much so that it might actually forestall all of them in charging Trump, for anything.

Oh, FFS, he’s never going to do it. If Cheney actually think so, she’s not half as smart as I thought she might be. This is just like the tax returns, the classified documents, everything else.

Imagine the FBI discovered several file boxes full of SCIF room only, classified, secret and top secret documents in an unlocked storage shed behind Adam Schiff’s home. Would there be a debate about criminal charges?

Only if criminal charges are not required for burning someone at the stake. In which case the R’s wouldn’t bother with criminal charges.

But we are not they, and the J6 committee can’t indict anyone.

Remember how the Mueller investigators were in talks with Trump’s lawyers about testimony?

Same thing.

Ah, but Garland can.

And hasn’t.

And won’t.

Since tRump seems to think announcing his run will prevent indictments Garland, James and Willis should coordinate and announce on consecutive days. Hilarity to ensue.

She knows good and well that he’s never going to testify. They’re just setting him up for their final report, which will draw adverse inferences from his refusal and/or invocation of the Fifth, and also point out that Ex-Jefe failed and refused to deny the testimony of the many witnesses who did go under oath.

It’s blessedly empty for me.

He might go so far as to show up, bluster a bit and then storm out (okay shuffle haltingly out, provided no ramps are involved), then claim the committee is so unfair or whatever.

There should be no such thing as talks with Trump lawyers.
Loser Trump, failed business man , cowardly draft dodger and stolen top secret documents means his sorry ass should be ordered to testify or arrested.
What does he have to fear?

He won’t go anywhere near a witness chair. No way, no how, nuh-uh.

In the (unlikely) event he testifies make it in camera. Don’t give him a yuge teevee audience to make a circus.

The right wing noise machine will, of course, go ballistic, but that cannot be allowed to intimidate Garland, James and Willys from doing the right thing legally, and pursuing their courses where ever the evidence leads. Trump has used his bullying tactics to great effect his whole life and it has damaged many with whom he’s come into contact.

It will emerge in the mainstream media that there is a legitimate case to be made some damned memo or law or informal agreement somewhere precludes indicting a candidate for high office. Not that such an exclusion exists, but we’ll see people making what to the common man are plausible arguments Trump should be off limits until after the election. And millions will swallow it whole, leading to a loss of confidence in the legal system that “something they’re not supposed to be doing” is nevertheless being done.
