The House Jan. 6 Committee asked Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to provide information about the Capitol insurrection in a Wednesday letter — the second demand to a sitting member of Congress this week.
I’m going to guess he will resist it… As the goon rolls up his sleeves, the committee members need to roll up their pant legs. The B.S. will flow. The committee is moving ahead with remarkable confidence. I will guess the committee already has what it needs. Guessing the DOJ is on board, as well.
Here is the logic the House should follow if Jordan et. al. refuse to cooperate:
Hold them in inherent contempt and force them to testify the minute they step onto the floor to cast a vote.
If they refuse to answer questions about an insurrection on the Congress, or take the 5th Amendment, declare that doing so is an admission that they conspired or supported the insurrection and, hence, are Constitutionally barred from sitting in Congress by the 14th Amendment.
Have the Sgt. at Arms escort them from the building and evict them from their office and remoke their credentials.
That’s the kind of hardball the Ds have to play and know that the Rs will overplay their hand if they try something similar if and when they take control of the House.
BTW – They should do the exact same thing with Senators who supported the insurrection, and get the Senate to vote to disqualify them via the 14th Amendment.
Then every reporter speaking to him needs to ask him why he’ll speak with a member of the corrupt media rather than his colleagues on the Committee (two of whom are republican). If he wants to get the truth out there, his best bet is tell the January 6 Committee.
