Jan. 6 Committee: New ‘Bombshell’ Revelations During Hearings

See, that’s what everyone’s been saying. She may be awful politically but she’s a rational being. I like me that Mac Studio, btw. That thing’s a muscle car.

She’s a politician and she’s facing a tough reelection fight in the midterms, where she can only win her primary with Republican votes. She has to say this. It doesn’t mean she believes it.

I’m not really expecting the sort of “bombshells” that will cause people to demand that trump be indicted. Or any legal blow back on him at all. I would be happy to be wrong however.
If trump is guilty of sedition then show me the evidence.

Joe who had a four year vacation after 46 years of public service, gets blamed for all the shit Trump was allowed to do during his measly 4 years in office. Let that one sink in.

Not much room in them drawers for anything else but that Beretta. I’m not bragging, but my package wouldn’t allow for that. I’m just say’in !

All these ReThugs are compensating for either small minds, small cocks or both.

:fire: and no one could get Trump to :fire_extinguisher:

My concern is that there will be an Oliver North-type character who will defiantly admit to wrongdoing and become a hero to the Right – and be charismatic enough that the rest of the story will be forgotten. I mean, were there any penalties for Iran-Contra? North became a popular talk show host and even thought of running for president. Everybody else was given probation or a pardon or both by G.H.W. Bush – and we know that the guilty here will be pardoned on Day 1 of the next Republican president’s day in office.

I know the Trumpers are being grilled on much more serious charges – and the DOJ has to hop to it to start the trials, since the 1/6 committee is just telling the story, not conducting legal proceedings – but always remember Gore Vidal’s nickname for this country: The United States of Amnesia.

Sad day to be an American

The damning parts will be delivered in calm orderly fashion… boring. The MAGA troops tump will mobilize will screech as loud as is humanly possible (the least they will do) and will likely do something utterly outrageous to completely divert attention from the proceedings that could get trump indicted. Maybe some sort of violence or accusation that Schiff and Cheney are actually aliens from an Alpha Centauri exo-planet.

Liz may well lose her seat, but–win or lose–she will earn the respect of many millions of Americans grateful for her efforts in saving our Democracy.

And were she to lose her seat:

Aside from the benefits of being from a very well-off family, she would also be able to write her own ticket with regard to a number of opportunities going forward.

I have firmly come to believe all of this, @pluckyinky. We might get an assist from J6 in opening a few eyes. We might get an assist from DOJ in helping people see that the rule of law still exists and must continue to exist. But at the end of the day, only we can save ourselves and our country, and the only mechanism we have is the vote. We must do our best not to allow that right to be thwarted, and we must vote in sufficient numbers to show that our vote is decisive and to overcome any obstacles erected to nullify the decisiveness of our numbers.

My takeaway is this: This is damn smart to tease this event. Good marketing move. It’s important to get as many people tuning in as possible and hopefully grab them with facts. Of course, I couldn’t possibly know this, but if I had to guess, I’d say it was Cheney’s idea to message it this way. I’m sorry, but Rs are pretty good at that.

Fred thought nothing of Don, who knew he wasn’t smart or resourceful, or capable of doing what his father had done. So he played the stereotype of the rich asshole around the time of Gekko, and it was an open goal.

The real poison went in the Roy Cohn, who had a financial sponsor and a student he could teach to shit the bed.

Trump, without the inherited wealth, lives up to his haircut - 70s used car salesman.

Sort of why I said what I said.

That is sort of my fear as well. The evidence will be clear but equally not sensational, more because they created that expectation. And it will be discussed to death as any other issue has been, civil and polite. It will last two days on the oh my gosh meter and then a Kardashian has a compelling wardrobe malfunction and it all gets lost in the coverage.

What will happen with J6???

I think that we may be selling ourselves short (and my views may well turn out to be in error)…

But I believe the adults will benefit and the adolescents will romp and act-up (and the latter I do not expect much from anyway).

Speaking of Jarad and Ivanka I was at a family function yesterday chatting with a step relative. He was telling me him and his wife send their kids to the same Jewish Day School as the Kushner youths.
During the peak of the pandemic they didn’t want to adhere to the protocols established by the school as well as what the state health department outlined so they yanked the offspring out of the school.
