James Murdoch Resigns From News Corp Board

Hope he made sure the will wouldn’t be amended - or that he tightened up the trust fund.

While his action of resigning alone does not absolve him of the blood on his hands caused by decades of Murdoch deceit, it’s an important step to no longer being part of the problem.

The move quickly drew comparisons to the HBO series “Succession,” which focuses on an insular family-controlled media empire.

Aww, screw that.

Lets keep it in the “family” and compare it to the X-Files. Probably closer to the truth at this point.

The WSJ of the 70’s was a redoubt of Main Street and Wall Street Ford, Eisenhower, Rockefeller Republicanism. Just enough government, sensible regulations and balanced budgets.
Then in the 80’s under Bartley they went full bore Supply side economics and their foreign policy was from the Jeanne Kirkpatrick defense of authoritarian regimes, no matter how awful.
In the 90’s Gigot who for some reason was awarded the Pulitzer delved into the most lunatic fringe theories regarding the Clintons like a highbrow Alex Jones with better grammar and bigger words. In the 2000’s they constantly defended the excesses of the Bush Cheney regime.
The few times when they would show some independence was when they had the lefty Alex Cockburn as a columnist as well as the What’s the matter with Kansas author Thomas Frank. Yeah, they didn’t last long. WSJ cancel culture!
Since Murdoch bought it the op ed pages are not much more than an upscale version of his tabloids. Maybe because he’s shown some independence it’s not surprising why James Murdoch left.

I don’t see how these words go together. Impossible to be intelligent and stupid at the same time.

We’re not dead yet!

Instead of confronting Putin [about Russian bounties on US Soldiers], Trump lashed out at Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) about domestic antifascist group antifa, tweeting in part, “Jerry, blame it on Russia, Russia, Russia!” The unfunny punchline reaffirmed that Russian wrongdoing would continue to be swept under the carpet by the Trump administration—a signal that was enthusiastically received in Moscow. “Trump is still ours,”concluded Russian International Affairs Council expert Alexey Naumov. “Whew,” theatrically exhaled the host of a state media news talk show 60 Minutes , Olga Skabeeva.

Time will tell.

Amen.

The WSJ editorial page has always been, as you pointed out, a bizarre “ultra” (for the time) right wing hangout.

They got a boost however, when IBD went even further to the right, and also started polluting their economic"data" with right wing nut job sources. Which made the WSJ, which had been pretty reliable with regards to that sort of data news, a boost.

Wow.

Dude…he has Jerri Hall on his hands now. That is DEFINITELY going to take a lot of cycles.

More than Mick Jagger could handle.

Democrats are engaged contrary to the opinions of the TPM armchair Speakers of the House.

Evanina ultimately acknowledged that Russia is again trying to boost President Donald Trump’s reelection and denigrate his opponent, the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, sources who attended the briefing said. But that didn’t satisfy Democrats, who urged him to say as much publicly — and to be specific.
