“If we had refused to sit around a table we would have damaged our intelligence operations and it would have been serious disloyalty and discourtesy to our historic allies,” he said.

That’s diplomat speak for, “Can you fucking believe these clowns trying to shake us down?”

Not gonna lie … that would hurt me.

The Italians are pissed. Now we need the Brits, Aussies, and Kiwis to do the same. And throw in the French and Germans just for good measure. And, what the hell, the Portuguese and Spanish too.

And then Trudeau needs to taunt Trump with his election victory just for the fun of it.

sotto l’autobus, one might say. Naked contempt for a man who deserves it.

Obama had to go to Cairo to make a speech of reconciliation with the Muslim world.

The next president may have to go to Brussels.

First.

Trumpian extortion, Part Deux.

Rightly so.

But this is not a good thing. These are the type of things that are going to occupy the majority of the next President’s time, trying to repair both the diplomatic and intelligence relationships with these allies.

And permanent damage has probably been done. Because we can not say, “It won’t happen again”.

Of course we have to apologize. Sondland is still the Ambassador to the EU.

Conte told reporters in Rome on Wednesday that his intelligence agencies had told Barr “that our intelligence is unrelated to the affair.”

Conte will want to be careful.

Large swaths of his intelligence agencies are not unsympathetic to Barr and his ilk.

Unbelievable. As I just read elsewhere, Barr does not think U.S. intelligence agencies are doing a good enough job, so he’s soliciting advice from abroad. There is a word for this kind of behavior…it’s on the tip of my tongue. Begins with a “t”…(and yes, I’m well aware that the Italians are not our enemy.) It’s still uncalled for and improper.

Barr is running late on his mission - most world leaders with half a brain are looking to the future where they need to work with sane people again in the US, and are trying to politely brush off Trump and his fixer as the aberrations they are.

Fine, but leave the wine out of it.

This would ruin my life. Seriously!

Don’t worry about Barr. He will glibly make up some phony story to please the boss and further lead the Republic into perdition. It is how he rolls at the new DOJ (Dept. of Jagoffs).

Yes, we are paying for this ridiculous sham of an official DOJ investigation, in which the Trumpsters are trying to find some shred of evidence to denigrate our intelligence services and the FBI, solely for Trump’s political gain.

A case for impeachment of many around trump seems likely. Can the country survive this much chaos?
