Probably real, but with a deeply problematic chain of custody?
Hunter’s clearly a coked-up fake businessman riding his dad’s connections to grift his way to a living (oh look it’s Don Jr) but unlike KenDoll and GoverningBarbie is not in the government and hasn’t been blackmailing Qatar or selling secrets to M Bone Saw.
DeSantis: I will sue you for posting that (totally photoshopped) picture of me mugging for the camera and shaking hands with that abusive felon who I have never had the misfortune to cross paths with!
I honestly don’t think there was anything particularly nefarious in the selection of Mike Pence for VP. Manafort knew they needed to shore up the evangelical wing’s support and that in addition, Pence would be a reliable trooper without any capacity to challenge Trump’s narcissism. Pence would be Trump’s John the Baptist and not steal any thunder from the insatiable ego-hole.
Someone like Chris Christie, who could actually do some of his own thinking and working for his own ambitions, would have clashed horribly with Trump and led to a very public falling out.
Let’s not forget that Robert Mueller let Manafort off from the biggest charges involving soliciting assistance from the Russians for Trump’s campaign by giving them polling data. He also knew Giuliani was tampering with Manafort as a witness and did nothing.
Ya know, the only really plausible reason he didn’t was that he actually believed he was going to be “reinstated” into office, so he didn’t need to do it. Even up to January 19th. Then it probably just slipped his mind and nobody as bad as himself was let to remind him.
There is a lot of talk of Russia pulling back forces from Kyiv Oblast, Sumy and Kharkiv. In Sumy, there isn’t much to pull back because the roads are literally riddled with the remains of entire Russian tank divisions. Those Russian units that survived are hightailing it back across the border. Similar results are happening in Kharkiv.
If you want to know why the Russians are talking about a strategic pull back, this map tells us why:
The UKR military is pressing on the Russians from multiple directions and largely has them on their back foot or trapped. The escape valve is north via Chernobyl to Belarus, but Ukrainians are fighting there too.
The messaging about a strategic pull back again came from the ministry of defense, but this time from Putin’s guy, Shoigu. I think there is dissension among the Russian ranks. The story the Russian MoD is telling is really their theory of how they would’ve preferred to conduct the war: maybe a feint operation in Kyiv but really focus on grabbing full control of Donetsk Oblast. That’s not the war Putin ordered, however, and it’s not the one that’s happening now. As of this evening, the fighting in NW Kyiv Oblast suburbs/exurbs remains very intense, with constant firepower. There’s little question that the Ukrainians continue to push the Russians back, but there’s no let up in the aggressiveness of the RU military.
The dilemma for Russia is while they’d love to keep a presence in Kyiv to keep the UKR army tied down, it’s really quite difficult for them to maintain relatively stationary positions. The UKR drones, missiles, and anti-tank weaponry (with soldiers who are willing to get close enough to shoot at them) make it too difficult. The Russians will get wiped out as they have in Sumy.
There is now a report that the Russians are mining and perhaps trying to blow up a bridge leading out of Kherson to the east, again a sign of back pedaling. Essentially, Russia is trying to prevent UKR from launching a major counterattack in Donetsk and Luhansk. However, the UKR force that is there is more than game and is able to inflict heavy losses on the Russians while the Russians make minimal, if not fleeting, territorial gains. What Russia fears most is Ukraine launching a counterattack that could re-take Melitopol, Mariupol and drive the Russians into Luhansk or back to the border.
We’re now seeing signs that UKR’s missile defense has improved. They’re shooting down more missiles. This evening, the Ukrainians launched a missile and struck an arms/ammo depo in the Russian city of Belogorod (not more than 60 mi from Kharkiv).
Saw the pics of the bridge mining in Kherson.
Obviously trying to consolidate gains in the east and a corridor. Mariupol is the key, the Azov battalion, the Nazis Russia is descrying, know it’s kill or be killed.
Thank you, Josh Kovensky. Maybe some media heavyweights will see this and follow Josh’s lead. Manafort is so dirty in associations with Putin and Putin stooges that he ought to be afraid to show his face on the street now that Russia is murdering Ukrainians and smashing their cities. His work in Ukraine is one end of the big fat chain anchored at Putin on one end and Trump at the other. It’s been hiding in plain sight for six years. It’s about time we paid some attention to it.
“Partner.” Meanwhile, the same people who have spent years condemning “RussiaGate” as fake news and a Hillary/Soros conspiracy are currently yelling on the TV nightly about Bioweapons in Ukraine based on information they got straight from the Kremlin.
It’s as if a gang of bank robbers spent all the time they’re not robbing banks going on the TV to yell about how the cops are a gang of bank robbers who must be stopped. Sadly, it’s worked surprisingly well.
