For years, former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort worked in Ukraine for people who have now either fled to Russia, or been accused of supporting it.
Great job, Josh Kovensky! When will we know the path - name the names - that bring Manafort to Trump? Yes, we have a piece of it. But I’d love to have the detailed who, when, and how.
Manafort was TOTALLY deserving of that pardon Trump provided on his way out the door.
I’m actually STILL surprised that Trump didn’t preemptively pardon members of his family and himself for any federal crimes that may have been committed or alleged.
[“Much of the information we have comes from federal criminal investigations, a probe by the Senate Intelligence Committee, and accounts from people who worked closely with Manafort in Ukraine. What they reveal is a man who was willing to support politicians in Ukraine who would later throw their lot in with Moscow, working to get them elected while also overseeing initiatives aimed at convincing Europe to overlook instances of wrongdoing by his clients in favor of signing a lucrative trade deal.”]
And coincidentally, when Trump won the GOP presidential primary the GOP platform was changed to weaken support of the U.S. assisting Ukraine by providing military equipment and weapons.
Six or seven years ago the idea that DFG was a Russian asset seemed a bit far-fetched. But given what has happened re: Russia/Ukraine since then - Manafort running the 2016 campaign, with attendant Russian connections/interference, the attempted neutering of NATO by DFG, the misplaced and truly bizarre praise of Putin by the same man, squeezing Zelenskyy regarding the Javelin systems - it seems more probable with every passing day and every new revelation.
He’s such a dickhead. If Putin had any incriminating and damaging info on Biden’s son, don’t you think he’d use it against him BEFORE he invaded Ukraine, you fucking moron? Do you honestly believe he’s going to save it to give to your sorry fat ass? You matter about as much to Putin as American democracy matters to the average Republican, which is, of course, not at all.
I’m of the mind that Trump inadvertently exposed a lot of rot, corruption, and ways in which the country is vulnerable to attacks from within. I also think he may have hastened the total fracturing of the GOP. In the end, I do believe great progress will ultimately result from his defeat, and that many Republicans will spend the rest of their lives cursing the day they met him.
I have said this many times: as a service brat in the 1950s, I was taught by, friends with, and coached by people who came from backgrounds exactly like that of Trumpers. They were controlled by UCMJ.
What Trump exposed was always here and, to make it more incredible, there were a lot of ex-Obama people voting for Trump.
I thought he, Trump, was going to hand out these preemptive pardons until someone ???, said it will look bad so don’t? I just can’t remember who that was.
