Two problems with that. First, both Twitter and (I think) Facebook have announced that they won’t allow posts declaring election victory on or after November 3rd unless it’s from official state election boards. The MSM outlets probably wouldn’t carry it either, although Fox might.
The second problem is that if this is actually the Blue Wave we think it is, then Trump is going to discover that he needs those late vote counts in more than one critical state. All his complaints about counts after election night will magically disappear.
Everything I see from the Trump campaign and the domestic terrorists he has unleashed signals a desperate campaign using every means at its disposal (which are significant) to subvert the voting process. And his backstop is the corrupt Roberts Supreme Court, which may tendentiously rule on voting matters.
But, to be clear, I don’t think either will be enough to deny Biden the victory. Republicans will have, however, revealed themselves to low information voters as an anti-democratic party willing to sink to despotic levels to retain power. And the Supreme Court will have revealed the depths of their corruption and their obeisance to corporate interests. All of this will make it easier for us to enact significant changes to voting rights and the federal court system, if we so choose. And I choose.
ETA: I see @pluckyinky made the same point much earlier upthread.
“A new study from Stanford University estimates that 18 of Trump’s recent large-scale campaign rallies ultimately resulted in 30,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and probably led to more than 700 deaths among attendees and others infected by them.”
I can see Trump hypocritically demanding the count continue in certain states, but not in others, depending only on who’s winning. Even a hack like Kavanaugh might have a tough time with that argument.
polls show neither Collins nor her Democratic challenger, Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon, getting over 50 percent of the vote. If no one gets over 50 percent, then ranked-choice voting kicks in and the second choices of the lowest-ranked candidates’ votes start to get tabulated.
Perhaps this was the grand design of the NRA’s utterly radical and perverted ideology regarding guns? So that, ultimately, a bunch of white supremacist gangs could use weapons of mass destruction to terrorize Americans trying to vote or participate in acts of civil disobedience. I guess I never realized significant portions of local levels of law enforcement would side with the terrorists.
I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but is the tRump Strangeglove a way to cover up something wrong with his hand? Something Mitch should have used ?
IV ? Desiccation? Plague boils ?
Is there any doubt that the “ big surprise rescue” was manipulated and timed to be an election event to save Trump rather than the hostage? It probably could have been done much much sooner. There is no bottom to this sinkhole of a presidency.
While anything is possible … it would seem to defy all logic to think that Trump will get more votes than he did in 2016 …
nowhere - really nowhere have you heard about genuine large meaningful clusters of “new” trump voters… some anecdotal outcroppings maybe, but nothing that makes a mark on the radar screen
While there are endless identifiably demographic groups that have had large % movement out of the support Trump category … and much into either the “not voting” or all the way to “Voting for Joe”
… it also seems that Biden is likely to get more votes than Hillary … and may hit or exceed Obama 2008 levels
Given his weight and other signs of ill health, I suspect the circulation in his hands is pretty bad and they get cold. He’s been wearing the gloves at the colder venues.
They’re gonna get a ride all right. Tied to the back of pick up truck and dragged for miles until there’s nothing left except an unrecognizable piece of mangled flesh. tRump and the GOP need to be utterly destroyed and left along the side of the road.
Just speculating. If (gods forbid) Trump wins, there could be a power struggle between his factions. Trump could be blamed and dumped by the new Theocracy. Or not. But it’s all damn terrifying.
We’re getting ranked choice voting here in NYC next year. It will certainly improve democracy by selecting a new mayor and crafting a coalition if there is a runoff.
