Donnie is the root cause of this tragedy.

Just sayin’…

I’m a little surprised they owned up to it so quickly. I guess the evidence was so clear they had no other choice. Tragic for all concerned.

Collateral damage… and many broken hearted families.

To me what is most confusing, is WHY wasn’t air traffic grounded? You would think that after firing missiles at US bases, they would be expecting retaliation. Stopping commercial flights for at least several hours after such an event would seem to be common sense

This was Chump-level incompetence. Just like we expect Chump to fuk up and screw things right into the ground, other nations are just as culpable in making huge mistakes, especially when everything is turned up to 11 on the brinksmanship and bravado scale. I don’t know for sure what is motivating Iran, but I do know for sure that covering for Chump’s lack of manliness and the gaping hole in his psyche is the main driver of U.S. actions.

We have huge holes in our intelligence and military hierarchy. Most decent folks have resigned, other positions remain unfilled, and those still around are “acting” in their roles and were never confirmed NOR do they have any of the prerequisite portfolio elements.

The more Trump puts the world and the US in a constant state of anxiety, fear, and uncertainty, the more tragic accidents and overreactions we should expect. There’s a straight line between Trump’s deployment of a deadly drone and the deadly missile that killed so many innocents.

There’s internal Iranian politics in play here, too. According to several reports, the facility involved in the accidental shootdown belonged to the IRGC.

Rouhani is not exactly friends with them.

My thoughts exactly. All non-military air traffic should have been grounded. Wtf were they thinking letting civilian air traffic continue with business as usual?

The problem with semi-authoritarian states is that they often perform incompetently.

Its double trouble when two are in conflict.

This is not a “fog of war” tragedy. This is a tragedy of the stunning incompetence of the Iranians. If close to 40 years from the start of the Iran-Iraq War (stalemate) this is how sophisticated they’ve become? Nothing has changed at all. They’re about as coordinated and cutting edge as a blind person at a turkey shoot.

Will also surmise this wording is surely not a coincidence:

“My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families."

Straight outta’ the NRA-Republican playbook.

There you go Ukraine. Maybe next time you’ll play along nicely and not get roughed up.

Incomplete. The plane followed the same path as several prior ones who had taken off before it.

Iran is admitting things this quickly to keep something else from getting out there.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. And, within hours of the crash they tried to blame it on engine failure.

Donnie: We’ve got an aptitude for that…

It’s very smart. Surprisingly so, given the nature of the regime.

I mean, the nature of their constitutional setup is such that there are like seven different sources of power and legitimacy constantly vying against each other at any given time, so you never know when something like this that looks like transparency and good strategy is really just a shower shanking in the constant internal power struggle.

But it is very likely that a lot of those organs have lined up and agreed that when they’re dealing with adolescent pathological lying imbecile bullies, truth and transparency and adult behavior win with the Europeans and on the world stage.

And this is why you don’t put idiots with extreme personality disorders in charge of nations. They’re just so easy to play.

ETA: Well, it may have been smart from an international standpoint, but it sure isn’t playing well internally . . .
