Intel Officials Say Iran Is Responsible For Emails Aimed At Intimidating Dem Voters | Talking Points Memo

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials have accused Iran of being behind a flurry of emails sent to Democratic voters in multiple battleground states that appeared to be aimed at intimidating them into voting for President Donald Trump.

as a wise man once said, sniffit to make sure it’s not bullshit. Because it is. Russia hasn’t done anything, yet iran has, and they’re trying to undermine President Trump by intimidating people into voting for him. pull the other one, it’s got bells on it.

Maybe. Maybe not. This is why online crazies have gained credence - the “official” sources of information have become demonstrably unreliable.

But if it was Iran, I’d say that once we took out Mossaddegh, all bets were off. Actions have consequences.

The real story here is that they aren’t mentioning Russian activity, or that it is in favor of Trump, even though it’s much more probable. John Ratcliffe is a Trumpie. The most likely reason is that he doesn’t want to upset the dear leader.

So this announcement is basically an ass-covering exercise for Ratcliffe so he can have a career after Trump loses and they get replaced in January.

We can’t believe anything Ratfucker spews out of the sewage outlet he calls a mouth. Just ignore it, vote, and get after the Dems to investigate this asshole after 20 Jan.

I believe Iran over the Trump administration. They have more credibility

The officials did not lay out specific evidence for how they came to pinpoint Iran

Did they intercept a call with someone who was serving yellow cake at a birthday? Or someone ordered aluminum tubes for their bicycle?

Ratcliffe said the spoofed emails were “intended to hurt President Trump”
That was such an awkward and clumsy forced statement by Ratcliffe … it simply did not fit in the context of the announcement (which already stank of contrivance) … virtually no facts shared … no real clarity as to who, what, how… how much… yet no problem making difinitive assertions as to motivation
Frankly, it would come as no surprise if we find out that Trump demanded the inclusion of that awkward phrasing … “tell the nation that this is an attempt to hurt ME …it is about ME!!”

I, too, do not believe these intel officials.

My first thoughts as well.

Oh Radcliffe, we know your ass is behind those threatening emails sent too voters from the poor boys!

For you are a Trump loyalist! If Trump told you to bark like a dog while hopping on your left foot, Radcliffe would do it!

Yeah - like others are saying - Iran is trying to hurt Trump by intimidating Democratic voters?

I noticed Wray did no repeat this line.

Apparently, the consensus is that Iran doesn’t want Trump to be reelected and Russia does. Russia is apparently smarter about it than Iran is.

Not that one can put any credence in anything US “intelligence officials” say.

Right, and Iran has also been 6 months from developing a nuclear weapon for the past 25 years…

Though Democratic voters were targeted, Ratcliffe said the spoofed emails were intended to hurt Trump in the contest against Democrat Joe Biden, though he did not elaborate on how.

  1. Iran intimidates Democratic voters.
  2. ???
  3. Trump loses.

70 years of US foreign policy towards Iran based on first overthrowing and then refusing to admit to, apologize or make up for it, which if we did, we’d have long since had an ally and not an enemy. We manufacture most of our enemies, mostly for economic reasons, sometimes for ideological or political ones. It’s all so stupid and counterproductive.

BREAKING: Iran is still just 6 months from developing a nuclear weapon!

Strange “press conference “. Led by a partisan idiot, FBI left to present generalized bullshit with no specifics as second banana. And, yeah, those emails threatening Democratic voters were from Iran to hurt Trumpty. Stooges for the campaign, all. We have no functioning government left.
What exactly was it supposed to accomplish?? All it did was give the Proud Boys cover publicly. Maybe a question for the stable genius tonight will clarify things!

makes sense…but not as Ratcliffe says. The construction of the emails was awkward and not like what you’d expect a native speaker of English to use and its tenor reflected an internal acceptance of someone being able to “know all” and use that information to force action. That does happen in the criminal underworld in the USA but the author of those mails came from a place where that’s the every day way things are done everywhere. An authoritarian state.

Hard to discern what game Iran is playing. Most likely they want Trump to stay in office because he’s so damn destructive. Iran loves that. Or this could be a more sophisticated effort to paint Trump supporters as thugs giving Biden a boost. Biden will probably lift the sanctions Trump placed on Iran and put the USA back in the Iran Nuke deal. Iran would love that. Must be a bitch to be a Mullah these days.
