The Internal Revenue Service has now joined the list of federal agencies and offices experiencing life on the “DOGE” side. Two sources told TPM that a staffer affiliated with President Trump and Elon Musk’s controversial “efficiency” initiative left some bewildered and concerned on Thursday as they held their first meeting at the Washington headquarters of…

And why would they need to see everyones tax returns for what their publicly stated goal? Such BS.

If “DOGGIE” is truly looking for “ROI”, then beefing up the IRS and its auditing and enforcement wings is where the big money is at.

But I’m pretty sure Musk doesn’t want to target himself.

The IRS has the ability to direct deposit into my account.

They’ve just shown that they can, without warning, claw back those deposits, even settled ones, without warning, and contrary to any law other than Trump’s (or Elon’s) vindictiveness. I’m talking about the $80M stolen back from NYC accounts, just yesterday? Or the day before?

I sent a message to my credit union when that happened, sending another message to them right now.

Ms. Brutus and I typically owe each year to the IRS. I gladly pay, via personal check. We’ve never granted access to the IRS for direct deposit or payment of taxes.

Last year was I think the first time that I owed instead of getting a refund; the kid graduated and we hadn’t adjusted withholding properly. Our expenses were all kinds of crazy that year.

/begin rant:
You would think that having brain surgery, a particularly difficult heart surgery, three months out of state (and yes, travel, food, and lodging costs go in the pot), weeks in inpatient rehab and then a hairy ER visit when my lungs pretty much stopped working and I was intubated to save my life, not to mention the dozens and dozens of visits to specialists of all stripes before and after (at $40 a pop) would have put me over the edge.

But nope, all that added up didn’t push us over the limit. And it’s not like we’re particularly wealthy, after all I certainly wasn’t working and wasn’t getting disability and my spouse is a mid-level bureaucrat (you know, the ones that actually make things happen). How on earth anyone qualifies for the medical deduction is a mystery to me. I certainly didn’t when I had cancer, and over 100% of my salary went to medical travel and follow-up costs. As a grad student, I didn’t make enough trigger the deduction.

Musk responded in his typical terminally online fashion: He replied to Wyden’s post with a pair of laughing and crying emojis.

just what we need, another privatized system accountable to no one
turning the government into the efficient money machine like health insurance

I can bet of all the private data they’ll be hoovering up, certain 1%ers info will be wiped completely.

NY Attorney General Letitia James announces a multi-state lawsuit against DOGE.

“As the richest man in the world, Elon Musk is not used to being told ‘no,’ but in our country, no one is above the law,” said James in a statement, adding that Trump does not have the authority to “give away Americans’ private information to anyone he chooses.”

“Musk and DOGE have no authority to access Americans’ private information and some of our country’s most sensitive data. I am taking action to keep our information secure, and to prevent any unconstitutional freeze on essential funding that Americans rely on every day,” James added.

“What exactly that would look like, I’m not sure,” the source said of the DOGE demand for access, adding, “Levels of data protection at IRS are higher than at other agencies. … Not only is improper disclosure illegal, but improper inspection of data internally is illegal. So, it’s a really high bar of data security here. It’s hard to think about what extensive system access would look like for these guys that wouldn’t violate the law.””
… … … …

Wake the fuck up!!! Trump/Musk do not give a shit about laws !!!

That ought to be painfully obvious by now.
Good fucking god people… DOGE is gonna break every fucking thing they can with no thought what comes after!!!

Information is power. The demand access NOW is to hover up data, data is power, Data Bricks is data science/machine learning. The is all a big POWER grab. It also why it does not matter if it is only read only access.

So, why should I pay the taxes I owe in April? If all the settled agreements between our government and its citizens are being ripped up, I don’t want to fund the destruction.

It appears that the DOGE team has been emplaced for many years, just chomping at the bit to wreak chaos. How have they been able to attend to minutiae in government services and personnel in so little time? AI? Or both, they have been planning for years and waited for an inflection point called Trump and/or some other shift in the affairs of this nation?
